Audi charging: the brand with the rings launches a charging network for electric vehicles with 400,000 points throughout Europe

It will start working on January 1, 2023

The brand with the rings identifies three major challenges for electric mobility: autonomy, charging times and charging infrastructure. To help improve the third pillar, it is launching Audi charging, its own charging network for electric vehicles that will have 400,000 chargers in 27 European countries.

This new network will replace the Audi e-tron charging service that launched four years ago with the launch of Audi’s first electric car.

The new Audi charging service will come into operation on January 1, 2023. The brand with the rings promises that it will be available in 27 European countries, with 400,000 charging points for electric vehicles managed by more than 800 operators.

Of the 400,000 points announced, around 1,900 high-power chargers from the IONITY network will form part of the new Audi charging network. These allow recharging of up to 350 kW, so that, for those electric cars that support this power, they allow up to 80% of the battery capacity to be recovered in a matter of minutes.

Audi charging network prices

To use the new Audi charging network it will be necessary to have one of the three available rates active.

  • The pro rate is designed for drivers who have to recharge their car frequently. In accordance with the prices announced for Spain, this rate involves the payment of a monthly fee of 14.99 euros that allows recharging at alternating current (AC) stations for 41 cents/kWh and at IONITY charging points for 36 cents/kWh
  • For drivers who only need to use public charging points occasionally, they have designed the plus rate. In this case, the monthly fee is 6.99 euros, but the recharge price rises slightly: €0.43/kWh for CA and €0.79/kWh for IONITY points
  • The third option is the basic rate, for drivers who make very sporadic use of public points (usually because they have a charger at home). It does not entail payment of a monthly fee and gives access to all Audi charging recharging points for a price of €0.55/kWh at AC points; €0.69/kWh in direct current (DC) chargers; and €0.79/kWh in case of using the points of the IONITY network

All points can be managed and booked remotely from the myAudi app. The IONITY and Aral Pulse charging stations also have the Plug & Charge service that allows registered users to start the recharging process by simply connecting the cable to the vehicle.
