BMW 5 Series 2023, already has prices for Spain

It was officially presented a couple of weeks ago and now we have met the new BMW 5 Series 2023 in person and we will tell you how it is live and the official price list for Spain.

The BMW 5 Series 2023 already has prices for the Spanish market. This eighth generation of the German sedan not only changes its exterior design, but also improves technology and is electrified throughout its range. Of course, the change in the price list is notable.

We started precisely there, for the price. The previous generation was available from 49,500 euros. But the market has become radically expensive. This, together with the leap in standard equipment and the mechanical improvements, explains why the 2023 BMW 5 Series is now available from 60,050 euros, in the entry-level model, which is the 520d sDrive.

Above is the BMW 520d xDrive, whose price is 62,600 euros. In gasoline, at the moment only the 520i sDrive is available, which costs 60,150 euros.

And, on the other hand, we have the new 100% electric version, that is, the BMW i5, which is offered in two different versions, the i5 eDrive40, which is valued at 76,750 euros. And as the top of the range is the BMW i5 M60, which raises its price to 114,250 euros.

Later, the plug-in hybrid versions will arrive, which will begin to be manufactured in November of this year.

The changes in design in this BMW 5 Series are evident and focus on a more horizontal front grill, whose outline can be illuminated (serieconic Glow they call it. It costs 400 euros and comes standard on the i5 M60), on a longer hood and a rear sloped down.

In addition, it now has a higher beltline, which provides a greater feeling of power and sportiness, it can mount adaptive LED headlights and it has a rear diffuser and other aerodynamic elements that give it a greater feeling of dynamism.

In person, of course, he has a lot of presence and personality. And that, when it comes to a car that is going to be destined to companies in more than 80% according to what the people in charge of BMW in Spain tell me, is important.

And something that is interesting to know is that it grows in all its dimensions compared to the previous model. It now measures 5,060mm in length, 1,900mm in width, 1,515mm in height and has a 2,995mm wheelbase.

Very technological interior

Step inside to discover how it has changed. And the truth is that the leap he has taken is very important. Before it was a car with many buttons, a more or less large central screen and a fairly traditional dashboard.

Now it has the well-known BMW Curved Display, a double curved screen that integrates the control panel and main monitor that integrates most of the functions and allows the elimination of most of the physical buttons, although some have been left in order not to make handling too cumbersome. . In addition, it integrates the BMW ID8.5, which is the latest operating system in the house.

This is something already known from the BMW iX, but it fits perfectly in the 5 Series. It also mounts the Interaction Bar that we already saw in the BMW 7 Series, which has two trim levels (Low and High) and lights up and interacts with the driver and allows him, via the touchscreen, to control the settings for the ventilation, rear window heater, hazard flasher and front power doors.

In terms of qualities, nothing that you did not expect, that is, the best materials (in this case the upholstery is vegan leather and not of animal origin), millimeter adjustments and a very high subjective sensation of finishes, which is also increased by the Familiar glass elements for the BMW iDrive, which can be optionally added.

Interior BMW 5 Series 2023

I have not hesitated to sit in the back row to see for myself the space available. I haven’t had the chance to measure it yet, but I would say that the rear space is very similar to the model that was for sale up to now, both in terms of leg space and head height.

The unit that I have accessed was a BMW i5 M60 and I was surprised that it maintains the same transmission tunnel as the combustion models, which is very high and wide, which complicates life for those who want to accommodate themselves in the central square . Of course, the digital controls for the climate control in this second row are a sign of premium quality.

Perhaps the trunk is not key in a company car and representation like this, but that is not why I want to stop telling you that it offers a capacity of 520 liters, which is 10 less than what it had before, and that the electric versions lose 30 liters with respect to the combustion models.

Mechanical range: BMW 5 Series 2023

Although I have already advanced it to you before when I have told you about the prices, I will give you more specific information about its power and benefits. And I confirm that all of them are electrified.

The BMW 520d diesel mounts a 2.0 biturbo four-cylinder engine, which is linked to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. It has microhybridization, so it will have the DGT ECO label. It is available with rear or integral propulsion (xDrive), has 197 CV and 400 Nm and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.

The gasoline BMW 520i also has a 2.0 biturbo four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission and is also a ‘mild hybrid’, so it has the DGT ECO label. It is available only with rear-wheel drive, has 190 hp and 310 Nm and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.

The BMW 530e sDrive is a plug-in hybrid, has 300 Cv of power and 450 Nm of torque, accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and offers an electric range of up to 102 km.

For its part, the BMW 530e xDrive adds another electric motor on the front axle to achieve all-wheel drive and thus reach 490 hp and 700 Nm of torque. It reaches 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and its electric range is up to 90 km.

The BMW i5 eDrive40 mounts a single engine on the rear axle, has 313 hp and 400 Nm of torque, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds and has a range of 582 kilometers.

Finally, the BMW i5 M60 adds a second electric motor on the front axle, to achieve a total power of 517 hp (601 hp in the My Mode Sport). It goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and its autonomy is 516 kilometers.

This new BMW 5 Series 2023 begins to be manufactured on July 1 and the first units will be available on October 21 of this year.
