Caught the driver of a van driving at 191 km / h

Hunted the driver of a van that was traveling at 191 km/h in Valladolid. 11 drivers have been caught exceeding the speed limit by more than 80 km/h.

The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has just published the results of the speed campaign carried out last month, where 11 drivers were brought to justice for exceeding the speed allowed on the road by more than 80 km/h. Among the offenders of the month of April who were hunted by Pegasus, the driver of a van that was traveling at 191 km/h stands out.

In the video that the DGT has shared, we can see that the driver of the unmarked white van first circulates at 184 km/h. But, far from lifting his foot off the accelerator, the person behind the wheel continues to gradually increase speed until reaching, at times, 192 km/h, according to measurements from the radars equipped on the Pegasus helicopter.

The infraction took place at kilometer 60 of the A-52 in the province of Valladolid on April 7 and the driver faces an alleged crime against road safety by exceeding the speed at which he was traveling by more than 80 km/h. These types of vehicles can circulate, whose maximum speed is limited to 90 km/h on the motorway, instead of the 120 km/h that a passenger car can circulate.

More than 45,000 drivers have been denounced for exceeding speed limits in the latest DGT surveillance campaign

This is one more example that speeding offenses are common on Spanish roads. For this reason, the DGT carried out a special road speed monitoring campaign during the week of April 17 to 23, where agents from the Civil Guard Traffic Group established 2,838 speed control points.

Through these points, which have increased by 25% compared to last year, agents were able to control a total of 792,338 vehicles (6% more than in 2022). These figures represent 564 control points and 45,035 more controlled vehicles compared to the last campaign carried out in July of last year.

Of all the controlled vehicles, 45,220 drivers (5.7%) were driving at a speed higher than the permitted speed. 25,903 of these drivers were driving on conventional roads, 17,621 on motorways or dual carriageways, and 1,696 on crossroads.

The fact that 11 reported drivers committed a crime against road safety stands out and were brought to justice for exceeding the speed allowed on the road by more than 80 km/h, as stated in the Penal Code.

The DGT’s speed monitoring campaign has had the participation of the Traffic Civil Guard and the different regional and local police forces, who carried out controls in their areas of competence.
