Citroën ë-C3, the electric ‘low cost’ that could come to Spain to rival the Dacia Spring

At the moment it is only marketed in India, but its arrival in Europe is not ruled out and due to its dimensions (3.9 meters long), power (57 CV) and autonomy (up to 320 km), this electric vehicle could put you in trouble. to the Dacia Spring.

Just a few weeks ago, Citroën presented this new ë-C3 in India, a 100% electric ‘crossover’ of segment A, which could reach Spain and go on to compete directly with the Dacia Spring.

Auto Bild has contacted Citroën Spain and the brand neither confirms nor denies the arrival of this model, which makes us think that it is possible that they are considering marketing it in our market.

This new electric urban SUV has a different design from the Citroën C3 currently sold in Spain, although its size is similar: it measures 3,981 mm long, 1,733 mm wide and 1,604 mm high, while the wheelbase is 2,540mm.

These dimensions are slightly higher than those of the Dacia Spring, which would be its main adversary, if its arrival on the European market is confirmed. Instead, it is smaller than the Citroën C3 Aircross.

In India, the chevron brand presents it as an electric car “designed to maintain the history of the brand and focus it on the avant-garde, an intuitive and advanced embodiment of comfort and innovation in a completely new electric model.”

That is why they boast three elements in their electric C3: its rolling comfort, its elevated driving position and its interior space. It declares a trunk capacity of 315 liters.

In addition, they stress that it is a “unique customizable electric vehicle”. In fact, there it is offered in four colors and another nine different combinations with two-tone paint, as well as three exterior customization packs and two interior finishes.

But let’s go to the really outstanding thing, which is its electrical mechanics. It mounts a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor with 42 kW (57 HP) of power and 143 Nm of torque.

The maximum speed declared in the Asian country is only 107 km/h and they publish an acceleration data from 0 to 60 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Modest figures, but they seem sufficient for a merely urban environment.

The lithium-ion battery that it equips has a 29.2 kWh capacity and declares a theoretical autonomy of no less than 320 km. That would be a lot, but it must be explained that this result conforms to the Arai (Automotive Research Association of India) protocol and not to our WLTP, which suggests that its scope would actually be less.

It has a 3.3 kW onboard charger and in an alternating current charging socket it takes 10 and a half hours to go from 10 to 100%. But it also supports fast charging with direct current, in which case it takes only 57 minutes to complete the same process.

Other equipment data that has been released (always referring to the Indian model) is that it will have a 10.2-inch touch screen, equipped with wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In India you can already make reservations for the new Citroën ë-C3, but its price has not yet been announced
