It is in Badajoz and borders a mountain
Perhaps you did not know it but it is very possible that you have seen it on more than one occasion. The largest roundabout in Europe is in Spain; specifically in Badajoz and borders a huge mountain more than 1 kilometer in diameter.
We say that it is very possible that you have seen it because given its enormous dimensions and particular characteristics, this road has been the setting chosen for the filming of many car commercials, including the one for the
The roundabout that is not such
Considered the largest roundabout in Europe, it is not actually signposted as such. It is a circular road that is part of the framework of the EX-322 highway that surrounds Cerro Masatrigo, in Badajoz (Extremadura), also known as the Magic Mountain.
The mountain is a small peninsula since it is surrounded by water in all its parts except one of them. The road that surrounds it has an extension of 1.3 km, two entrances and exits, at each of its ends, which go towards Puebla de Alcocer and Cabeza del Buey. The road is one lane and one way.
The road that borders the Magic Mountain of Badajoz is used by many drivers. Some go there out of curiosity and to enjoy the spectacular scenery; others, to explore the two hiking and mountain biking routes it contains.
As a curiosity we will point out that the highest point of the mountain bordered by the largest roundabout in Europe exceeds 620 meters. Also that the Junta de Extremadura wants to convert Cerro Masatrigo into the sixth natural monument of Extremadura.
The largest roundabout in the world
The one in Badajoz is the largest roundabout in Europe, but not the largest in the world.
This title is for the Persianan Siltan Salahiddin Aziz roundabout 40 km from Kuala Lumpur, in Malaysia, with a 3.5 km route.
