Diesel and gasoline are rising in price again and are dangerously close to the barrier of 2 euros per liter. The price has been on the rise since September.

Without a doubt, 2022 will go down in history as the year in which fuels became a luxury. After the summer it seemed that the situation calmed down and that little by little normality was recovering with a fall in prices. However, diesel and gasoline prices rise again and are dangerously close to the barrier of 2 euros per refueled liter.

If we go back to last month, September 28 was the day that 95-octane gasoline was cheaper after the summer, at €1,679/litre. Diesel, on the other hand, stood at €1.847/litre, above the €1.806/litre in mid-August, at which point a new escalation began that would lead to a downward month of September.

These figures, it should be noted, are well below the €2.106/liter that diesel reached on average in Spain on June 23, and the €2.156/liter that gasoline 95 stood at on June 17. June.

However, since that September 28, prices have not stopped rising until today. Diesel is now, October 21, at €1,978/litre, while gasoline is sold on average at €1,770/litre, according to data from the portal dieselogasolina.com.

This is 7.1% more in the case of diesel and 5.4% more in regard to gasoline. It should also be noted that diesel is now more than 20 cents more expensive than a 95 liter of gasoline.

On the other hand, filling the tank of a car with 50 liters of gasoline now costs an average of 88.50 euros, or 78.50 euros if we take into account the reduction of 20 cents from the Government. Filling that same amount with diesel means paying 98.90 euros without discount and 88.90 euros if the minimum discount of 20 cents is applied.

With this upward trend that we have been experiencing since the beginning of October, it is very likely that diesel will exceed the barrier of 2 euros per refueled liter before the end of the month.
