Ford has just announced its electric roadmap for the coming years, and it is loaded: by 2024 it will launch seven new vehicles, three passenger cars and four commercial vehicles.
In 2023, the brand will start production in Cologne of a fully electric passenger car, which it has only announced will be a mid-size crossover. To this will be added a year later, in 2024, another electric car for which no further data has been given.
The third zero-emission tourism will be the Ford Puma, which, to its current mechanical range, which is already electrified, will add a zero-emission variant that will be manufactured in Craiova, Romania, from 2024.
As for commercial vehicles, there will be four new models in the Transit range: the one-tonne Transit Custom and mixed-use Tourneo Custom will arrive in 2023, and in 2024 the new generation of the Transit Courier and the Tourneo will be incorporated. Courier.
This announcement comes hand in hand with the presentation of Ford Model e, which is the new division of the American company created to focus on the design, production and distribution of electric and connected vehicles.
Ford has also signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a new industry-leading joint venture in Turkey, which would be located near Ankara and produce high-nickel NMC cells. The final signature is pending, but an annual capacity of between 30 and 45 Gigawatt hours is expected in the middle of the decade.
