The new Ford Everest 2023, the SUV based on the new generation of the Ranger, has been revealed, a vehicle that, unfortunately, we will not get to see in Europe.

A couple of weeks ago we announced that the presentation of the new Ford Everest 2023 was imminent. Ford had confirmed this in a series of teaser images and videos before its official debut. Now, the new Ford Ranger 2023 has been officially presented and it is an SUV based on the new generation of the Ranger that, unfortunately, will not reach the European market.

Destined for Australia, Africa and other Asia Pacific countries, the new generation Everest has a longer wheelbase and 50mm wider track than the previous model. Ford says they were expanded to make the new Everest more enjoyable to drive in the city and on the highway, though that doesn’t mean off-road capabilities have been abandoned.

All versions of the new 2023 Everest come equipped with skid plates, a rear differential, off-road driving modes and two functional tow hooks up front. In addition, the new generation offers 800 mm of wading depth and has been equipped with a series of technologies for driving with a trailer.

For example, the optional Tow Pack features an integrated trailer brake control system and offers a towing capacity of 3,500kg. There is also a specific riding mode dedicated to optimizing gear shift timing to keep power delivery and engine braking at a sweet spot when hauling heavy loads.

On a mechanical level, the new Ford Everest 2023 will have a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel unit and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6, both associated with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Ford hasn’t announced power and torque levels, but we know there will be rear-wheel drive versions of entry-level models and the rest will have a permanent all-wheel drive system.

Interior, equipment and technology

In addition to its exterior design clearly based on the new Ford Ranger, but removing the cargo bed to create an SUV-like body, the new Everest features a dedicated interior, with a Ford SYNC 4 infotainment system with a 10.1-inch screen. or 12-inch, depending on trim level, as well as an 8- or 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster.

Among its interior equipment there is an inductive charging point for mobile phones, heated and electrically adjustable seats in up to ten positions with memory function, heated steering wheel, and a rear seat backrest divided in a 60:40 ratio. There is also a seven-seater version with seats that can be folded 50:50 at the touch of a button.

Ford has also worked in the technological section to provide the new Everest with a central front airbag, adaptive cruise control with lane centering, Stop & Go and evasive maneuver assistant systems; reverse brake assist, pre-collision assist with cross-traffic function and a blind spot monitoring system with trailer coverage.

At the moment, prices have not been announced for any of the markets in which the new Ford Everest 2023 will be available, nor the expected dates on which it will land in dealerships.
