Gasoline cars, three reasons to buy one in 2023 and another to think about it

Do you still have doubts about which vehicle to choose? In this article we offer you three reasons to buy a gasoline car in 2023 and another reason to think about it.

We live in a time when making the right purchase decision in the automobile market is a complicated task. Betting on traditional fuel engines, choosing a hybrid or buying an electric car is among the biggest questions facing any driver who is currently thinking about changing cars.

For this reason, at AUTOBILD.es we want to help you better guide your purchase decision and in this article we offer you three reasons to buy a gasoline car in 2023 and another to think about it. Choosing a vehicle with a gasoline engine over one with a diesel, hybrid, gas or 100% electric engine is not easy, although today we make it a little easier for you.

Gasoline is cheaper than diesel

Let’s talk first about money and fuel prices. Today, December 26, a liter of gasoline costs less than diesel. The average in Spain is 1,573 euros per liter of gasoline refueled, while diesel is 1,649 euros per liter. This means that gasoline is just over 7.5 cents cheaper than diesel.

Therefore, filling a tank with 50 liters of gasoline currently costs 78.65 euros, while doing it with diesel means paying 82.45 euros (without the discount of 20 cents applied), that is, almost four euros more per tank. It is understandable that the situation will be reversed, but currently gasoline is cheaper than diesel.

You can have a gasoline car with an ECO label

Another reason to buy a gasoline car in 2023 is related to the possibilities that the market currently offers. And it is that you have the possibility of buying a gasoline car with an ECO label from the DGT, when it is normal for any vehicle with an engine of these characteristics to have the C environmental label.

However, manufacturers offer a solution to “hybridize” these engines without turning them into hybrid cars to use. This is Mild Hybrid or microhybrid technology, in which the gasoline engine is assisted by a small electric motor/starter and a low-capacity battery, which provides extra power and torque in very specific situations.

Although almost no microhybrid car has the ability to move only in electric mode, this technology means some fuel savings and a slight reduction in polluting emissions. Therefore, the General Directorate of Traffic considers these types of vehicles as hybrids and, therefore, they have the coveted ECO label.

Enjoy the pure performance of a gasoline engine

What no hybrid or electric vehicle can offer is the genuine performance of a gasoline engine. The purity of an internal combustion engine, its high revs, the way it delivers power, the sound… Everything in a gasoline car is always authentic, and that is very difficult to emulate in a vehicle that has electric propulsion.

This is probably the last chance to buy a gasoline car before the sale of internal combustion engine vehicles (including hybrids) is permanently banned from 2035. You will be able to continue driving them until 2050, but you will no longer have the option Going into a dealership and buying it new.

Is it really better to buy a gasoline car than a hybrid or electric one?

There is also a reason that will make you rethink the purchase of a gasoline car or bet on alternative propulsion technology, and it goes along the lines of the previous paragraph. And it is that combustion engines, unfortunately, their days are numbered and from 2035 it will not be allowed to sell new gasoline, diesel, gas, hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars in Europe.

This is quite a challenge for two reasons. The first has to do with access and mobility restrictions in large cities, which will become increasingly strict until only electric and hydrogen cars can enter.

The second is related to fuel costs and a gradual increase in tax charges for this type of vehicle, a measure that will be carried out by the European Union with the aim of putting pressure on drivers to abandon their thermal cars and acquire vehicles of 0 emissions.
