Activating YouTube notifications is a very practical setting when we have subscribed to a channel that we want to continue watching content from. Especially if it’s a channel with a verified badge.
Sometimes the notification bell is activated automatically, but there are times when it must be done manually.
For those who are interested in achieving it, here we bring a very simple explanation of how to achieve it, as well as how to customize the settings in general.
How to activate YouTube notifications from a PC
Achieving this configuration is very easy and fast, to do this, you must first have logged in to the video web platform from a PC or computer.
Next, the best way to adjust or activate YouTube notifications is to go to the main page of any channel that we are interested in following. Knowing that it is as easy as searching for videos within a YouTube channel, forgive the redundancy.
In said window, a button with the word “Subscribe” will appear on the right side, on which you must click, in order to decide whether or not to receive notices of publication of your content.
If you are already subscribed to said channel, it will not be necessary to do anything extra in this regard. Simply for both situations you must continue with the next step.
It will appear, on the right side, a notice that we are already subscribed, and right next to it, there is a button with a bell for notifications.
By clicking on the latter, we will have three options. The first one allows you to activate “All” notifications. The second, do it in a “Custom” way.
And finally, “None”, to stop receiving notifications. The choice in this case is up to each user.
Although, the most used option is the second, activate YouTube notifications in a “Personalized” way, since it allows you to adjust the notifications to receive more conscientiously.
How to customize notifications
After you have managed to activate notifications from YouTube, it is advisable to configure what exactly, how and when notifications will be received.
For this, the “Notifications” button is selected, shown as a bell in the upper right part of the screen, next to the profile thumbnail.
Within this section, you choose to click on “Settings”, or on the gear that will be found on the right and above.
Thus, the window of these settings will open, where there is a wide range of settings in the notification area.
In this case, we are interested in going to the section called “Your Preferences”, which presents the different options, and all of these are marked or unmarked through slider buttons.
The first setting or customization is called “Subscriptions”, and this is precisely the one that affects the notifications that we want to modify.
If said button is on the left side, that is, deactivated, you will not receive any notice about the activity of the channels to which we are subscribed.
On the other hand, if it is on the right side, or activated, it will allow YouTube to notify the user about new publications and activity that are made from the channels or accounts to which they are subscribed.
Turn on YouTube notifications in email
Similarly, you can select the mode in which YouTube notifies directly to our email address.
For this, in the same “Settings” section of the notifications, you must scroll down until you find the “Email notifications” section.
Within the latter, and in the “Your Preferences” area, various options will be displayed, among which are those of “Subscriptions”.
In order for the activity carried out in the channels to which we have subscribed to reach the email, the button for said option must be slid to the right.
If, on the other hand, you don’t want to receive news via email, you should simply keep it disabled or move to the left side.
