When reading posts, only the most recent ones always appear. How can we jump to an old date and go to the old posts on a Facebook wall?
Usually when we want to check out a less recent post, we keep going down on our wall in the hope that those wanted posts suddenly appear. But as we have been able to realize, usually that miracle does not happen and we finally end up giving up our search.
To complete, although the Facebook search engine allows you to find a person by their cell phone number (quite an advanced tool), it does not yet have an exploration tool to search by keywords, dates or people, a particular publication.
However, there are a few ways to get access to those not-so-recent posts and even download them to run custom searches. And although they are available on Facebook, many times we do not know them because we do not frequently use the menus where they appear.
How to Jump to an Old Date and Go to Old Posts on a Facebook Wall
An easy way to jump to an old date and go to old posts on a Facebook wall is to access the “Activity Log” history. We can do this by entering our profile or the button in the form of an inverted triangle that is located on the right at the top of the page.
Only the owner of the Facebook account has access to the information that is there in which you will see your complete history. It will be organized by months, starting with the most recent and progressively ordering towards the oldest dates and publications.
It also has a very complete filter that allows you to search according to certain parameters such as:
- Biography review.
- Photo review.
- Publications.
- Activity in which you have been tagged.
- Other people’s posts on your timeline.
- Photos and videos.
- Reactions and likes.
- Comments.
- Friends.
- Important events.
Download your information on Facebook
Another possibility is to download your information contained in Facebook by entering the “Settings” menu and selecting “Your information on Facebook”. There you will see the option “Download your information” and then “Request a copy”.
You will be able to choose between many information options to download, you can download all of it or some data in particular. You can even choose a specific date range that especially interests you, as well as configure the desired download format.
Once you have selected the type of information you want to download, you must proceed to “Request a copy” and Facebook will proceed to create a file to download in Zip format with all the information you have requested. As soon as it is available, Facebook will notify you and you can download it in the same section where you have requested the copy, in the “Available copies” section.
After Facebook has generated the required file, you will have a few days to download it. Thanks to the available download formats you can easily read the information in a web browser. Using the search method combining the functions of the keys “Ctrl and F” you can easily reach the desired publications. If you have problems, you can contact and write to Facebook about a problem.

Keep in mind that if the posts you’re expecting to find aren’t appearing in the report, it’s probably because you removed them from your timeline at some point. Also, all posts prior to the year 2005 cannot be retrieved, as this Facebook option was not available at the time.
