Steps to remove dual boot menu in Windows with Linux
First of all, you must be sure that you are going to remove the correct operating system from the corresponding partition. It is also important that the operating system that remains on the computer works correctly, for this you must do the following:
- Select the Windows start button, type ‘Computer Management’ in the search bar and open it as soon as it appears in the list of results.
- Then you have to select the option that says ‘Disk Management’.
- Now you will be able to see the list of all the hard drives and partitions that your computer has. This is when you have to make sure that the partition you want to delete is not active, as deleting an active partition will prevent the system from booting properly.
- In case you need to delete the operating system that is installed on a partition marked as active, you have to mark another partition of the computer that you want to keep as active.
- For this you must click with the right mouse button on said partition and mark it as active and you will have completed the first stage of the process.

- If the operating system you want to keep on your computer has not been marked as default, then you have to select it from the list and then click on the ‘Set as default’ option.
- To finish, you will see that a system configuration window appears in which you have to click on the ‘Restart’ option.
How to format hard drive to conserve space after deleting dual boot menu
Once you’ve restarted your computer, you need to log in to the operating system you kept. Then we simply recommend that you free up space on the hard drive where the operating system that was deleted was located, for this you just have to follow the following instructions:
- First, click on the ‘Computer’ icon found on the desktop. Then right-click on the drive where the operating system you just deleted was located and select the ‘Format’ option.
- Now a new window will appear in which you must select the ‘Format’ option.
- Then you will see another pop-up window where the system warns us about the consequences of formatting your PC’s hard drive. Simply click the ‘OK’ button.
- When the whole process is finished, a window will appear with the following message ‘Format complete’. Here you just have to click on the ‘OK’ option.
- This is how we will leave the disk completely empty where the operating system that we eliminated following the previous steps was located.
