How to use a 64-bit web browser on 32-bit Windows?

In today’s article we are going to see how to use a 64-bit web browser on 32-bit Windows. Is it possible? We will go into details below.

What are the differences between a 64-bit browser and a 32-bit browser? In general, any application that can be run in 64-bit has better performance than any 32-bit version. They are not only faster but also more secure due to its architecture.

But we are going to try to put aside any kind of technicality a bit and go to what really interests us. Can we install a 64-bit browser on a 32-bit operating system? We will answer that question a little further down.

Check if a 64-bit web browser is compatible with my version of Windows

The thing to keep in mind is that if you have a 32-bit operating system, there is no way you can install a 64-bit web browser. Even if you did succeed, it would actually be quite counterproductive. For which, we recommend that you verify before trying anything the version of your Windows.

For this you will simply have to go to “This computer” or “My Computer” and then right click on a blank space, we choose “Properties”.

Next, in the “System” section you will be able to see your processor, RAM memory, type of system, etc. How can we tell if we have a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows?

If you look at “Type of system” it should clarify it for you. In case of having 64 bits it will say that the processor is x64. If we have a 32-bit operating system then we will have to invest in a new computer.

How to upgrade Google Chrome to 64-bit

To verify that we have the 64-bit version, we must go to Help > Google Chrome Information from the menu in the upper right corner of the browser.

In this section we will see “Information” and a little further down we can see the version number and in parentheses if it is 64 or 32 bits. If nothing appears, it means you have the 32-bit version. If this is the case, go to the Chrome website to download the latest version.

Update Mozilla Firefox to 64 bit

Just like Chrome, users weren’t automatically upgraded when the 64-bit version came out. In order to check what version we have, we must go to Help > About Firefox and here we can see if it says (32-bit) or (64-bit) next to the version number of the browser.

In case of having the 32-bit version we will have to enter the official Mozilla site to download the 64-bit version and install it.

How to update Microsoft Edge to 64-bit

In the case of Microsoft Edge, you do not need to do anything, since if your system is 64 bits, then you automatically have the browser installed. If it is 32 bits you will have this version installed. So you shouldn’t do anything.

Therefore, in case your computer cannot support the 64-bit operating system, it is impossible for you to install any app with this architecture. Little by little, 32-bit software and hardware are left in the past to make way for 64-bit architecture, which has better performance and security in every way.
