Our email address, like our telephone number, are the two methods of communication that we use daily to carry out any type of management, so we must always keep in mind that no one but us has access. In the case of our telephone number, it is a very simple process since to make a duplicate of our SIM our ID is necessary. However, accessing our mail is much easier.

If we regularly access our Gmail account from several computers, it is most likely that we are used to not logging out so that it is faster to access this platform to read and answer the emails we receive. In addition, it is also likely that our browser saves the access password, so that anyone in our environment can access it. If we want to prevent someone other than us from being able to access our Gmail account, the first thing we should do is log out (or use incognito browsing) whenever we finish and not save the password in the browser. How can I tell if someone has accessed my Gmail account?

Check who accesses my account

Gmail puts at our disposal a tool that allows us to know from where our account has been accessed and when was the last time it was done. This allows us to quickly know if someone other than us has access to our email account. To know this information, we just have to access the main page of Gmail and go to the bottom, specifically to the Details option.

Just above, all the locations from where our account is being accessed are shown. When clicking on Details, a new window is displayed where we see all the accesses that our account has had, along with the IP and the last access date. Right at the bottom, our IP is shown, the IP of the computer that we are using to connect to the Internet, which will allow us to quickly clear up doubts about whether or not it corresponds to our equipment or Internet connection from our home or place of business. worked.

If both the access time and the IP do not sound familiar to us, we just have to click on Security Review to show all the devices that have and have had access in the past to our Gmail account. If any of the devices shown are no longer in our hands or we do not know about it, we just have to click on the Remove button to prevent it from having access again.

Prevent it from happening again

If we want to prevent anyone other than us from accessing our Gmail account, in addition to following the steps that we have indicated above, we must also activate the Two-Step Authentication. In this way, every time we want to access, we will receive a confirmation message on our mobile device, a message that we can approve (if it is us) or deny (if we are not trying to access at that moment).
