Ikea began to market its own solar panels in Spain in the first quarter of last year (it already did so in nine other countries) under an alliance with Contigo Energía. With almost two years of commercialization of Solstråle photovoltaic panels.

The Swedish giant offers a series of solar panel kits for all types of homes (single-family or flats), as well as SMEs. These vary in the number of panels and approximate annual consumption, trying to democratize energy self-consumption.

An offer for all needs

IKEA Solstråle systems include 340W high-efficiency panels, which means you’ll get maximum electricity output from your roof. In addition, it includes an inverter, installation and start-up, as well as legalization and processing of subsidies. This is one of the great advantages offered by the IKEA service, that everything is included within the same initial price.

The cost includes assistance in case you have to design a system adapted to the user, depending on the size of your roof or if it is a terrace. The budget and installation will be detailed, which will be carried out by specialized technicians after determining the exact cost of it and the plan by the technician who contacted us.

Speaking of prices, although it is convenient to request a quote so that the service can better adapt to your specific needs, several packs are offered as a reference. The cost of the facilities can also vary depending on the type of home, the inclination or orientation of the roof, among other factors.

  • 3 high-efficiency panels (for a family of 2 members, approximate annual consumption of 4,000 kWh) from 3,399 euros.
  • 6 high-efficiency panels (for a family of 3 members, approximate annual consumption of 6,000 kWh) from 4,699 euros.
  • 9 high-efficiency panels (for a family of 4 members, approximate annual consumption of 8,000 kWh) from 6,122 euros.
  • 12 high-efficiency panels (for a family of 5 or more members, approximate annual consumption of 10,000 kWh) from 7,491 euros.

Contigo Energía, the partner that offers the service together with IKEA, offers long-term guarantees with each Solstråle system so that you don’t have to worry as much as possible about maintenance. The warranty years are 12 for the panels, 25 years for performance, 5 years for installation and production, and 10 years for the inverter.

Recommended by the OCU

To try to get a better perspective on whether or not these solar panels are worth it, as well as how they perform against the competition, we can pass the ball to the court of the OCU. The Swedish multinational has been one of the best valued in a study by the Organization of Consumers and Users thanks to the solar panel installation service offered by Contigo Energía, which has obtained the following results:

Contigo Energía is not only among the seven best companies that requested sufficient information to carry out precise estimates, but, on the other hand, OCU affirms that it has been one of the most accurate when it comes to indicating savings forecasts and amortization, something that often tends to be exaggerated to make hiring more attractive.

In this way, taking into account all the factors, we can say that yes, that still at the end of 2022, almost two years after the arrival of the service in Spain, the Solstråle from IKEA and Contigo Energía are still worth it if you want to bet on solar power generation.
