Is it possible to enter with a car label B in Madrid ZBE?

Is it possible to enter with a car label B in Madrid ZBE? The Madrid Low Emissions Zone has some access and mobility restrictions that you should be aware of.

The Madrid 360 traffic restriction measures affect vehicles with a different scope depending on the environmental label of the General Directorate of Traffic with which they are categorized. Access and mobility restrictions are less severe for ECO and Zero Emissions cars. But, can you enter the Madrid Low Emissions Zone with a label B car?

Of course, cars with environmental label B (petrol vehicles registered between January 2021 and December 2005, and diesel vehicles registered between 2006 and 2013) are the ones that will experience the most restrictions in the future.

While those that do not carry a label will have access to the Low Emission Zones (ZBE) prohibited from 2023, cars with a B label will be added to this prohibition from 2025.

This means that in the next four years thousands of cars will not be authorized to access these low-pollution zones, areas that, before 2023, Spanish municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants must adopt. It is estimated that some 150 cities will have their own ZBE next year.

In the case of cities that do already have these specific low-emission zones active, as is the case of Madrid and Barcelona, cars with a B label currently have some access and mobility restrictions.
