Lancia’s future plans

Lancia’s future plans include the launch of three new models before the brand goes 100% electric from 2028.

Stellantis has big plans to revive the Lancia brand in the coming years after years of neglect within the FCA Group. Thus, Lancia’s future plans include the launch of three new models before the brand becomes 100% electric from 2028.

“The future of Lancia is already here and by the end of 2022 we will have a first preview of the new direction that will lead us to become a credible brand in the premium market, in the name of innovative, clean and safe mobility”, explained Luca Napolitano. CEO of Lancia.

Lancia’s future plans: new models and style

The Italian brand plans to introduce three new models, one every two years. The resulting range will cover 50% of the market according to the company. Thus, the fourth generation of the Ypsilon will hit the market in 2024, and will be available in both a hybrid and electric version. It will replace the current Ypsilon, which has been on the market almost unchanged since 2011.

Lancia’s first crossover will arrive two years later, in 2026, bringing back the historic Aurelia name, which was used between 1950 and 1958 on a series of sedan, coupé, spider and convertible models.

Finally, the third new model will be the Lancia Delta, a compact that will land in 2028. Both the Aurelia and the Delta will be offered exclusively as electric cars, most likely based on the Stellantis platforms. In addition, that same year the brand will go on to sell only electric vehicles, which means that the hybrid Ypislon will disappear.

Stellantis has also revealed some interesting details about the design of the new Lancia models. The new models will be inspired by the brand’s heritage, reinterpreting iconic elements “in a modern and contemporary way”.

The first component to return will be the goblet-shaped grille, which is going to be revised thanks to “innovative lighting elements”. Inside the cabin, a large percentage of recycled materials will be used, with interior environments inspired by iconic models of the past and furniture by great Italian designers.

Lancia will also present the virtual interface “SALA” (Sound Air Light Augmented). Through this interface, the driver will control the sound of the audio system, climate control and ambient lighting. A similar atmosphere will apply to new Lancia dealers.
