As we all know, especially the users of this operator, the company operates both on the Movistar mobile network and on the fiber network. And, as expected, these two operators share a router. Therefore, the equipment that they install for us will also be from the blue operator. But, the most important thing of all is to get to know the meaning of each of the lights on the O2 router to know if it is failing or working perfectly.

In any case, it must be taken into account that, if you contract fiber optics with O2, we will have a Home Gateway Unit or Movistar HGU router, as it is better known. Therefore, we are going to see what the O2 HGU lights mean so that you can know at all times if it works well or something is wrong, although the latter will be easy to distinguish, since a red light will appear.

O2 Router LEDs and Indicators

Although within the catalog of Movistar router models we find several, the truth is that, for the moment, O2 customers have the possibility of enjoying the Movistar HGU. In addition, this is one of the most widespread by Telefónica. However, the most important thing of all is that, from now on, when you see the LEDs and indicators of the equipment, either turning on, blinking or off, you will already be able to know what their meaning is.

O2 users will have a Movistar HGU in their homes, therefore, after contracting a fiber rate, they will receive this equipment. For this reason, it is important to be very clear about the different colors that we will see in the LED lights of the company’s router. The LED lighting sequence is as follows: Mouse (Internet) – WiFi (2.4 GHz) – WiFi Plus (5 GHz) – Phone. And, after knowing this, it is time to know what these lights mean:

  • Internet LED Lights

Here we find different lights and different meanings. For example, if the light is solid and blue, it means that we have access to the Internet without problems. If it starts to blink at first, more than anything it is because it is accessing the network, something that usually happens if we turn the router off and on.

If the LED is off, it will directly mean that we do not have an Internet connection. And if the lights are red, we have a problem. For example, if the light is solid, there is a fault with the HGU router, which could be hardware or firmware. If it blinks, it means that the power level of the fiber power is not what you should have. And, therefore, you should contact O2.

  • WiFi and WiFi-Plus indicators

We put these two LEDs or indicators in the same bag, since both WiFi share meaning in terms of the lights that can appear on the router. First of all, if the light is blue and it is permanent, it means that we have the WiFi connection active.

In the event that the blue LED lights flash, the truth is that this means that you have enabled the WPS function of the equipment. The flashing lasts approximately 120 seconds. Finally, if the indicators are off, it means that you do not have access to WiFi connectivity.

  • telephony indicators

Here, first of all, we can find that if the light is blue and steady, it means that the telephone line is working without problems. On the other hand, if it is blue and it is intermittent, that means that it is carrying out access to the network.

Later, here we can find a fixed green LED that means that a voice call is being made, either incoming or outgoing. And finally, if the light is red on the router, it means that the telephone service is not working.
