Maatla 4×4, a “light” armored car that can do anything

If we mention the name of Paramount Land Systems, it may not sound like anything, but if we point out that it is the company behind the mammoth Paramount Marauder (which rose to fame from a Top Gear program), things change. Well, now the company has presented the “little” brother of the mass, the Maatla 4×4.

It is a light armored vehicle based on the chassis of a commercial vehicle. This is then reinforced to achieve STANAG 4569 level 1 ballistic protection, which withstands fire from small caliber weapons, and also withstands explosions from hand grenades and similar devices.

The firm has not specified its technical specifications in full, but it is known that it has a maximum speed of 100 km/h and that, at cruising speeds of 80 km/h, it can travel 600 kilometers with a tank.

The interior stands out for its versatility and the ease it has to adopt different configurations, being able to assemble and disassemble seats for up to 9 people and thus be able to serve various purposes: patrolling, peacekeeping missions, ambulance, etc.

Deon Grobler, CEO of Paramount Land Systems, explains, “Personnel safety and soldier survivability in the field are key priorities of Paramount Group’s design and manufacturing philosophy.”

And he states: “The Maatla is a multi-purpose vehicle that offers excellent performance and reliability in cross country. Designed to handle a 2-tonne payload, the Maatla offers almost infinite configurability in terms of scalability of armor, weapons and mission-specific equipment on board.”

For his part, Eric Ichikowitz, Senior Vice President of Paramount International, adds: “Our customers can now take full advantage of three decades of armored vehicle innovation, engineering excellence and market leadership, but in a lighter class vehicle designed in response to changing customer requirements.
