For the C-Class, both in its sedan and estate versions, the AMG 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, released in the Mercedes-AMG SL, is incorporated, the first series engine equipped with an electric turbocharger, with 408 HP of power, available in the 43 4Matic variant.
The 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder engine enables the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4matic to deliver 408 hp and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. Depending on the situation, the system also briefly makes an additional 10 kW (14 hp) available via the alternator in “boost” mode. The second-generation belt-driven alternator (RSG) is the basis for a partial hybrid drive concept. In addition to temporarily increasing power, it allows you to implement functions that optimize efficiency, such as gliding or recuperation. The 48-volt technology increases comfort at the same time, as the transitions between stop-start function and planing function are practically imperceptible. The turbocharger is powered by this 48 volt network.
The C 43 4Matic Saloon needs only 4.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. The C 43 Estate does it in 4.7 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. If the AMG Driver’s package (optional) is ordered, it is possible to increase the maximum top speed to 265 km/h. The new supercharging technology allows to reduce consumption a little and make it more efficient. According to the WLTP cycle, the Saloon has a combined consumption of 8.7 to 9.1 l/100 km and the Estate of 8.8 to 9.2 l/100 km.
The transmission is a 9-speed AMG Speedshift, in which a wet clutch for starting replaces the conventional torque converter. This component helps reduce weight and improves throttle pedal response. In addition, the double clutch function is added in the “Sport” and “Sport+” driving programs. It also has the Race Start function (Launch Control) and the Eco stop-start function is activated in the “Comfort” driving program. The “Glide” function (gliding) can be activated in the “Individual” program.
The AMG Performance 4Matic permanent all-wheel drive has an AMG-specific distribution of force between the front and rear axles, which allocates 31% to the front axle and 69% to the rear axle.
It also features rear-axle steering (2.5º) as standard, a specific AMG Ride Control suspension with adjustable adaptive damping, AMG sports brakes and an AMG exhaust system.
The five AMG Dynamic Select driving programs are: “Slippery”, “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport +” and “Individual”. In the “Sport” and “Sport+” programs, the car has a particularly agile setting of the engine response, the transitions in the gear change and the harmonization of the running gear and the steering.
Numerous AMG-specific details on the exterior and interior of the vehicle underline both the dynamic and luxurious character of the C 43 4Matic: AMG-specific grille with vertical chrome profiles, AMG front apron with flics, sporty air intakes, rear apron with diffuser , two round tailpipe trims for the twin tailpipes and 18-inch AMG alloy wheels, which can be optionally replaced with 19-inch and 20-inch wheels.
For the interior, AMG seats with a specific design and upholstered in black imitation leather with red contrasting stitching and red seat belts are proposed. As optional extras, leather and nappa leather upholstery for the seats, the AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather with flat bottom section, perforated in the grip area and with silver aluminum gearshift paddles can be selected. AMG sports pedals, AMG floor mats and illuminated door sills with AMG lettering complete the ambience.
