Mitsubishi announces the return of the Outlander to Spain for next year

Mitsubishi announces the return of the Outlander to Spain for next year. The SUV will return as a new generation and will be a plug-in hybrid.

Good news for Mitsubishi and the European market. In recent years, the firm with the three diamonds has been losing models to market only three cars in 2023: the Space Star, the new ASX and the Eclipse Cross. The loss of the Outlander was a major blow for the company on the Old Continent, but this will change in 2024.

And it is that Mitsubishi has announced the return of the Outlander to Spain for next year, which will allow the manufacturer to expand the range of products up to five models with the incorporation in the autumn of 2023 of the new Mitsubishi Colt.

The return of the Japanese SUV, which will be developed specifically for the European market, “confirms the brand’s commitment to the European region and will further expand its offer in relevant segments with electrified models,” the manufacturer explained in a statement.

The return of the Mitsubishi Outlander will mean the “return to the European SUV-D segment” for Mitsubishi, with a model that “sold more than half a million units in Europe since its launch in 2023.” The fourth generation of the Outlander, in addition, will be a plug-in hybrid in our market, being the second generation of the Outlander PHEV.

Almost 200,000 units of the plug-in hybrid variant have been sold since it was introduced to the market in 2013, making it the most successful model of the three Outlander generations manufactured.

As for the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV 2024 that we will see next year in the Spanish market, it will have the latest design of the company that we were already able to see in the middle of 2021 when it was presented for the European markets.

It will be an SUV with up to 7 seats inside, equipped with the latest in safety technology and driving assistance, as well as different comfort elements and advanced connectivity solutions.

At the moment, Mitsubishi has not revealed technical details of its plug-in hybrid powertrain, which will be “based on Mitsubishi Motors Twin Motor 4WD EV technology and Super-All Wheel Control.”
