The Kia EV9 is a huge electric SUV with level 3 autonomy, an SUV that has a wide range of technological systems. It comes equipped with two LiDAR sensors, which are roughly sensors that can identify objects in front of them. In addition, the Kia EV9 is equipped with a revolutionary air conditioning never seen before. We found out how it works.

Of course, like the rest of its siblings, this EV9 has been tested in extreme hot and cold conditions to ensure its heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems are working properly. Although this model goes one step further.
Kia’s electric car includes a heat pump, climate control, defrost and defrost functions along with a new climate control panel. This system is easy to use and has ventilation grilles on the roof that seek maximum comfort for its passengers. The north of Sweden or the south of Spain have been destinations where it has been subjected to demanding tests.
“The new Kia EV9 demonstrates that customers don’t have to make sacrifices to be sustainable,” says Richard Peiler, Group Director of PT Refrigeration and HVAC Project Development Operations at Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center. “With these high-tech features, the EV9 sets new standards in the e-SUV segment. It offers all the comfort and convenience of a modern SUV without exhaust emissions.”
“Our goal is to adjust the climate control system to achieve the best compromise between cabin comfort and energy consumption,” says Peiler. “We are confident that EV9 customers will experience both a comfortable cabin and satisfying range.” The Kia EV9 uses a heat pump unlike most electric vehicles. And it is that these usually use a basic electric heater for air conditioning.
