New versions for the BMW 2 Series and 4 Series

BMW has just started marketing the plug-in hybrid versions of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer as well as new variants of the BMW 2 Series Coupé and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. In addition, a series of new equipment is launched for some models and both the 2 Series Coupé and the M3 go on to mount as standard the new operating system of the BMW Operating System 8 infotainment equipment with the curved screen already available in both the Active Tourer as in the new 3 Series.

The PHEV versions of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will arrive after the summer in two different power versions.

The new Series 2 Active Tourer PHEV (plug-in hybrids) mount a turbocharged 3-cylinder gasoline engine that drives the front wheels and an electric motor that drives the rear axle. The 230e xDrive It has a power of 326 horsepower, the result of combining the 150 of the gasoline engine with the 177 of the electric one. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and has a range that ranges between 82 and 93 km in the WLTP protocol.

The other PHEV variant of the German brand’s compact minivan, called 225e xDrive, has the same gasoline engine, but with only 136 horsepower and an electric motor that produces 109 horsepower for a combined power of 245. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h h takes 6.7 seconds and the autonomy is identical to that of its older brother.

Also on sale for this model range is the 223d xDrive version with a 2-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine combined with 48-volt mild hybrid technology. With a power of 211 horses, this diesel variant has a consumption of between 4.6 and 5.1 L per 100 km and accelerates from 0 to 100 in 7.3 seconds. It is only available with a 7-speed automatic gearbox.

Two new versions for the 2 Series Coupé

The BMW M240i will also have a rear-wheel drive variant, purer than the all-wheel drive.

The 2 Series Coupé also expands its offer with the arrival of two new versions, the 218 Coupé with a 156-horsepower four-cylinder turbo petrol engine combined with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and the M240i Coupé with a 6-speed engine. in-line cylinders also gasoline and 374 horsepower combined with the same gearbox. Until now there was already an M240i, but only with four-wheel drive, while this new variant is rear-wheel drive and has an M sports differential on the rear axle.

In addition, from July this year, all BMW 2 Series Coupés will have the new infotainment system made up of two screens, one 12.3-inch for the instrumentation and another curved 14.9-inch on the rear. including the new operating system with artificial intelligence, the BMW Maps navigation function and the brand’s personal assistant.

The range of the BMW 4 Series Grand Coupé is completed by the rear-wheel drive M440i and a 6-cylinder diesel version.

Finally, the Series 4 Gran Coupé debuts a new version M440i which, like the Series 2 Coupé with the same name, is now also available in a rear-wheel drive variant with the same 374-horsepower engine available up to four-wheel drive only. . For this car, a diesel version is also added with the 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine called 430d xDrive with four-wheel drive and the 8-speed automatic gearbox typical of all these BMW models.

As with the restyled 3 Series, the 4 Series Grand Coupe receives a cosmetic exterior customization package called the M Sport Package Pro that will be available from July. A similar package with the same name will be available for the 5 Series in both saloon and estate versions and for the 6 Series GT. The BMW X5 and X6 receive a new interior finish and the Z4 will mount digital instrumentation as standard. Finally, the M3 (for some strange reason the M4 has not yet) also incorporates the double screen for the instrumentation and the information and entertainment equipment.
