This would solve part of the problem, the long waiting times that the electric car forces us to spend while recharging its battery. All thanks to the replacement of graphite with a new material: Niobium.
Niobium is a chemical element present in the periodic table with atomic number 41. This element present in the niobite mineral is, according to the company, an optimal material to use as a battery anode. And they have discovered it after extensive research, as Echion Technologies has examined nearly 1,000 candidate materials for niobium-based anodes. Charge rate, energy density and power density are some of the keys.
“Tests with the first prototypes indicate that these are capable of retaining 70% of their capacity even at temperatures of -30°C and it is also resistant to high temperatures, which can be especially useful in regions such as the Middle East,” they were saying. Echion has signed an agreement with the Norwegian Morrow Batteries for this type of batteries. A technology that they hope will be available in 2024.
