Speed cameras are old enemies of drivers. There are different types, fixed, mobile, section radars… but they all have the same function: to catch drivers who do not comply with the speed limits. Normally, they are hidden, but some capitals are already sneaking around their own mobile radars.
Speeding is the third most common cause of traffic accidents, which is why the authorities invest a lot of money in different devices to detect drivers who exceed the speed limits, such as fixed and mobile radars and other devices.
A mobile radar is usually camouflaged, but there is one whose position has been leaked by the City Council of a Spanish capital.
Some capitals snitch on their own mobile radars
Specifically, it has been the City Council of Vitoria that has communicated through the Citizen Mailbox the exact place where the Local Police will locate its mobile radar and it will be in Zumabide street. The measure responds to the complaints of many residents of the Alava capital due to the speed reached by some vehicles on the road when passing through that street.
In any case, from the Vitoria City Council they affirm that they have carried out speed measurements and assure that “there is no greater breach than in other streets of the city”.
Even so, the fact of having carried out speed controls does not mean that some car has traveled through the area at a speed higher than desired.
The controversy is served
As with everything, after this decision to leak the location of the mobile radar of the Local Police, the controversy is served. There are supporters and opponents of this initiative.
In the first group are those who think that alerting drivers to the presence of a camouflaged radar will cause them to slow down in the area.
On the other hand, those who are not very in favor of the measure argue that the location of mobile radars should not be communicated to “hunt” those who break traffic regulations and scratch their pockets.
