As of today, Android TV already allows you to receive or make video calls or even voice calls through Google Meet. However, the new version of the operating system could release the option for users to receive notifications and phone calls on their smart TVs from other compatible applications.
The idea of answering calls from any device is not something new, currently we can receive calls and talk through tablets, mobile phones or even smart watches. Just like it is available on Android Smart TVs if you use Google Meet, formerly known as Duo. Although, the novelty would be to answer phone calls from compatible apps and receive notifications. So you no longer only have to use this application from the manufacturer.
In the first beta of Android TV 14
With Google Duo, now known as Meet, there is already the possibility of making video calls or individual and group calls if users want. It is only necessary to have a microphone and camera if the Smart TV with Android TV does not have these integrated components. However, the novelty here is that calls can be received from other compatible apps, as well as call notifications can be reviewed. A feature that was not up to date in this manufacturer’s software for smart TVs.
Therefore, Google is testing the first beta of Android TV 14 for smart TVs. So we are still far from this new functionality that is being tested and that users who are part of the beta program of this brand can try.

Everything will depend on whether you are logged in to your personal profile. Therefore, if you are in a different one, you will not see how they call you or receive notifications about it. A key element so that the privacy of the different users who make use of the Smart TV with Android can be respected.
And as we said, this version of Android TV will not be the only software with this option for users, but Apple recently announced that it plans to bring FaceTime to tvOS 17 and Apple TV 4K. Therefore, both operating systems compete once again to offer this tool as soon as possible.
