Supermarket gas station chains are usually cheaper
Now that everything indicates that we are in the final stretch of the 20 cent discount on fuel, it is time to review the keys to save when refueling. One of the tricks is to use supermarket loyalty cards.
Carrefour, Alcampo, Eroski or Costco are some of the large supermarket chains that, in addition to food, home and textile products, have gas stations in their catalog of services.
Supermarket service stations usually appear on the list of cheapest gas stations, among other reasons, because they allow you to accumulate discounts as long as your loyalty cards are used.
A study by the consumer organization OCU reveals that with these cards you can save up to 10% on refueling compared to the prices of the big oil companies.

With the Alcampo Oney card you can save up to 8 cents per liter (in addition to the official 20 cents per liter).
In this case, it is a direct discount that is applied to the amount of diesel or gasoline to be paid at the cash register.
Carrefour
The French chain has a total of 145 service stations spread over Andalusia, Aragon, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Castilla La Mancha, Catalonia, the Community of Madrid, the Community of Murcia, Navarra, the Valencian Community, Extremadura, Galicia, the Balearic Islands, the Basque Country and Principality of Asturias.
Carrefour offers an extra discount to all drivers who present the Club Carrefour card when refueling at their gas stations. The savings are not reflected in the amount to be paid at the cash desk, but are converted into money that the customer can later spend in their stores.
The percentage of savings depends on the service station chosen: if it is a Carrefour gas station, 8% of the amount refueled is accumulated and if it is a Cepsa gas station, 4%.
In addition, until December 31, Carrefour has a promotion active that gives away 3 euros to all those who download the supermarket application for the first time.
costco
Costco is an American supermarket chain. In Spain, to this day, there are only four (two in Madrid, one in the Basque Country and one in Seville) establishments open, but their gas stations are among the cheapest and the ones with the most traffic.
Costco service stations offer special prices for their associates. Costco cardholders can refuel at lower but not fixed prices: each day pumps display rates for diesel and gasoline and for members and non-members. The difference between what members and non-members pay is around 20-30 cents per litre.
To be a Costco card holder, you only have to pay an annual fee that also gives you access to supermarkets. The price is 36 euros for individuals and 30 euros for freelancers.
eroski
Basque supermarkets, but with a presence throughout Spain, offer a discount to all drivers who use the Eroski Club payment card (with a monthly cost of 4.99 euros).
This card can be used both at the supermarket chain’s gas stations and at those of Repsol, Campsa or Petronor. It allows you to recover 4% of what is spent on refueling; the accumulated amount is entered the following month and can be used to pay for the purchase, that is, it is not a direct discount.
