Tata Sierra EV: Tata’s (short-term) electric future

Tata Sierra EV

A promising design, but without technical details.

Tata, as much as in the eyes of the pagan it is a manufacturer of affordable cars that do not stand out excessively, in reality it is part of the Tata Group, which owns nothing more and nothing less than Jaguar and Land Rover. There is economic muscle and now the brand has announced how it will apply it to the field of electric cars: the Tata Sierra EV.

It is one of several prototypes that the manufacturer has presented at the New Delhi Motor Show, in India, as part of its goal of launching 10 zero-emission models in the Indian market covering all types of segments.

Of the various concepts, the Tata Sierra EV is one of the most promising, a medium compact SUV that was already shown in 2020 in a very original version, but is now much closer to what will be the production vehicle that, if everything goes according to plan, it will be released in 2025.

It presents an evolution of the brand’s design, achieving a more modern and elegant image. It stands out how high the front is, which is also very straight and is led by the horizontal lines, both of the headlights and those of the black fairing “grill” that stands out on the silver body.

It has voluminous lower protections that add muscle, especially in the wheel arches, it has a very defined beltline and at the rear it uses the trick of the floating C-pillar to give the sensation of a greater glass area.

Despite its compact size, the format of the body, with a great presence of straight lines and, above all, the shape of the rear, seeks to maximize interior space.

The cabin is practically that of a series model, with a multifunction steering wheel flattened at the base, instrument panel and center console made up of twin screens, physical buttons at the bottom and five seats, noting that the two front seats have individual armrests .

Regarding its mechanical section, it must be specified that, despite its name, when it hits the streets, everything indicates that, in addition to an electric version, it will also be offered with combustion engines.

No further technical information on the model has been revealed, beyond the fact that it will be developed on the group’s ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) platform.
