130 CV version and front-wheel drive. Is his behavior typical of an Alpha? We check it…

Here you have the in-depth video test of the Alfa Romeo Tonale. Ok, maybe it’s too late, but there is no doubt that it looks very good.

And it is that Alfa Romeo could not disappoint in design and from my point of view, it has not. You may like it more or less, but there is no doubt that people pay attention to it. They notice something different, something different.

The Alfa Romeo Tonale 2022 is positioned below the Stelvio. It measures 4.53 meters long, 1.84 wide and 1.60 high, with a wheelbase of 2.63 meters. The truth is that it looks quite compact when you have it in front of you.

What does that mean? Well, the side view of it is not as slender as that of the Stelvio, its older brother. But it is what the market asks for. A car small enough to maneuver through any city and big enough to travel without stress.

The front is Alfa Romeo mind. The designers are true virtuosos. Six riders in front, with a very interesting lighting signature, a large lower mouth to take in the air and a grill with a lot of personality.

At the rear, Alfa Romeo has succumbed to the market by offering some spectacular LED lights that come together to offer a most striking light signature. The tailgate has a noticeably extended rear window and overall its appearance is attractive. As for the trunk, a round figure of 500 liters that reaches 1,550 if you fold down the rear seat.

Interior of the Alfa Romeo Tonale

Inside, the design seems minimalist and modern at the same time, but without losing that touch of sportiness that every Alfa Romeo should have. From the first moment this interior is most attractive.

For example, the set of seats, steering wheel with the start button and paddle shifters are spectacular. There is no other compact SUV that offers such a sporty look. Of course, different types of upholstery are offered, but all of them have a 100% sporty flavor that makes you feel special.

Something that Alfa Romeo has always worked hard on is the driving position. And the Alfa Romeo Tonale in this test is no exception. From the moment you step foot in the driver’s seat you feel in a special atmosphere.

In front of you, a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, but being able to keep the traditional dials and even with the visor that maintains the oval shapes at the top. That’s what we like: modernity but without losing tradition.

In general, the perceived quality of the Alfa Romeo Tonale is good, especially visually. It’s not bad to the touch either, with somewhat hard plastics in predominant areas but with a pleasant texture. Of course, for me the best thing is how solid and well built it seems.

There are no creaks and everything is in its place. Alfa Romeo claims that they have covered more than 4 million kilometers to ensure not only its reliability but also its manufacturing quality.

It must be said that up to this point the Alfa Romeo Tonale test is leaving a very good taste in my mouth, but its biggest Achilles heel, as a good Alfa, is habitability. The front seats are more than correct, but the rear seats are somewhat fair.

The Alfa Romeo Tonale, underway

Well, Alfa Romeo has always known how to create fun cars with very high efficiency, regardless of size. With the Alfa Romeo Tonale, at first, I have some doubts.

The main one is that, unlike its older brothers, it is not based on the Giorgio platform, but has opted for the same platform as the Jeep Compass. Any Alfista surely had doubts when hearing this statement.

Well, you can breathe. Alfa Romeo engineers have modified that platform quite a bit by adding structural reinforcements on both axles, increasing the camber of the wheels and with a double McPherson strut on both axles that really promises.

If you want to know how this Alfa Romeo Tonale is doing, don’t miss the video because it’s priceless… it’s the most modest engine, but it keeps a few secrets that you’re going to like…
