Dacia Sandero, Renault Clio and Peugeot 208 have been the best-selling cars in May
We are starting June and it is time to take stock of the month that has just closed. The balance in terms of registrations has been positive, since the market has experienced growth of 8.3% with a sales volume of 92,025 units. In the next few lines we are going to discover which have been the best-selling cars in May 2023.
Before moving on to the list of best sellers, we are going to make a brief summary of how the market is. May registers the fifth consecutive rise in registrations. So far this year, a total of 404,337 passenger cars and SUVs have been sold in Spain. This is 26.9% more than in the same period of 2022, but 28% less than the figures registered in 2019, before the pandemic.
By channels, purchases by individuals increased by 5.3% compared to May 2022 but fell by 33% compared to those of 2019. Purchases made by rental companies (+19%) and companies (+19%) increased. +5.4%).
There is also growth in the light vehicle market, which grew by 10% to 12,048 units; in the case of industrial vehicles, which gained 25.1% by adding 2,219 registrations; and in buses, coaches and minibuses, a type of which 2,486 units have been sold and which registers the highest increase in the month with a rise of 27.6%.
The best-selling cars in May 2023
With the data provided by the national association of sellers and distributors Anfac, we have prepared a table in which we show which are the best-selling cars in May 2023 and which have accumulated the most sales so far this year.

If we compare the column of the models with the most registrations in May, we see that the Dacia Sandero becomes the best-selling car, surpassing the Seat Arona, which was the sales leader in April and now drops to fourth position.
There is also movement for the silver and bronze medals: the Renault Clio goes from third to second position and the Peugeot 208, which was not in the top ten in April, enters directly to the third step in May. Significant is also the irruption of the Toyota Yaris Cross and, conversely, the VW T-Cross and Seat Ateca that after occupying the fourth and fifth position disappear from the list.
