Indeed, an unpublished KTM 390 Duke prototype has been filmed, in motion, by our colleagues at Powerdrift. It has happened on a highway in India. And the view of the images, we get an idea of where the shots of the future model are going to go.

At an aesthetic level, a more voluminous front optical group can be clearly seen, as well as larger side covers that start at the fuel tank. On the handlebar, you can see a renewed TFT instrument panel with KTM My Ride and redesigned rear-view mirrors.

For its part, the exhaust seems to return to its original position, under the engine. Not like in the 2021-2022 version where it runs laterally on the right side.

However, the most important changes are seen in the cycle part. The tubular frame is new, as is the subframe. And to top it off, it incorporates a spectacular banana-shaped swingarm that appears to be single-sided, and with the shock absorber anchored laterally. In addition, it is positioned more horizontally than in the current version.

The brake discs seem to be larger in diameter, and the rims have the design of those fitted to the latest KTM RC 390. Much lighter than those fitted to the Duke.

The engine maintains its current architecture. It is a 373 cc single-cylinder, with 4 valves, double overhead camshafts and liquid cooling. Without knowing if there will be improvements to increase its current power and torque figures (44 hp at 9,000 rpm and 37 Nm at 7,000 rpm), surely the ECU receives tweaks to improve its feel, consumption, etc.

What is almost certain to be equipped with traction control, engine modes, quick shifter, or cornering ABS with Supermoto mode (acts only on the front end). Also anti-lock clutch, adjustable WP Apex suspension and adjustable handlebar.

The ergonomics also seem to undergo some changes. The pilot rides upright, and the footpegs appear to be slightly forward. In this way he would achieve a very comfortable driving position.

Without a doubt, we will have to be aware of the news that arrives from the KTM 390 Duke, one of the most symbolic motorcycles of the Austrian brand.
