Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz are already immersed in their preparation for the 2023 Formula 1 season. This week, the first of them visited the Aston Martin headquarters in Silverstone, and there he was able to get the seat with which he will compete this season. The second, has even already made the jump to the track with a 2021 Ferrari.

In just one month, the drivers of the current Formula 1 grid will be shooting at the Bahrain Circuit, where for yet another year the pre-season of the premier class is being held. However, first, the teams and drivers must present their cars for this course and prepare for what will be an intense 2023 season, taking advantage of every opportunity to go out on track.

That is what Carlos Sainz is doing this week at Fiorano, the Ferrari test track, with the SF21, the car that he himself drove two years ago in his debut with the Italian team. The man from Madrid completed no less than 119 laps yesterday, the equivalent of 354 kilometres, and was able to test both in the dry and in the wet.

In addition to Sainz, the Ferrari test drivers Robert Shwartzman and Antonio Giovinazzi have also had the opportunity to drive in Fiorano this year, who will combine this work with their participation in the World Endurance Championship with the 499P Hypercar. Today is the turn of Charles Leclerc, the other Scuderia driver.

Fernando Alonso, at the Aston Martin headquarters

Fernando Alonso, who has been sharing his training routine on Instagram in recent weeks, showing yet another year that he is excited about the start of the season, has also ‘returned to school’ this week.

The pilot has visited the Aston Martin headquarters, where he has met with the engineers with whom he will work this season, and the seat that he will use throughout the 2023 academic year has also been made.

Alonso will still have one more chance to drive with an F1 car before the start of the preseason. It will be at the Circuito de Jerez, on February 7 and 8, where Aston Martin will participate in some tire tests with Pirelli. Although it will be with the 2022 car, every kilometer counts in order to ‘remove the rust’ and start 2023 on the right foot.
