20% of sales have been for these 10 models
The one that has just ended has been a good month for the national automotive industry. Registrations are up 11.7% compared to the same month in 2021. Let’s see which have been the 10 best-selling cars in October 2022 as the main drivers of this growth.
With a total of 65,966 units sold, October registered, for the third consecutive month, a rise in sales of passenger cars and SUVs. Good news that is not so good if the data is compared with pre-pandemic levels: in October 2019, 93,954 units were registered, that is, 29.8% more than this year.
The accumulated balance in the 10 months that have passed since 2022 confirms that although the trend is upward, it is not necessary to launch the bells on the fly since the accumulated is still negative with a total volume of registrations of 666,247 units, 5.8% less than a year ago.
The reasons that prevent the car market from returning to the levels of three years ago remain the same month after month: the semiconductor crisis and the current economic uncertainty.
The best-selling cars in October 2022
Of the more than 66,500 vehicles registered in October 2022, 20% correspond to the 10 best-selling cars of the month (the top ten adds a total of 13,347 units).
Two other pieces of information draw attention to the balance. The first is that there is very little difference in sales between the 10 most demanded models; the second is that although the SUV (Sport Utility Wagon) continues to be the segment that accumulates the most sales, in the ranking of best-selling models in October the compacts share the leading role.

Most polluting cars
Regarding registrations by channel, it is worth highlighting the notable increase in sales in the company channel (+22.1%) and rent a car (+39%). More content is the growth of the private sales channel (+0.4%).
The data provided by Anfac also reveals that new cars sold in October are somewhat more polluting. And it is that the average emissions of vehicles registered last month are 120.4 grams per kilometer traveled (on the verge of having to pay registration tax); while a year ago they were 0.3% lower.
Diesel continues to drop
Despite the slight increase in emissions, alternative fuels continue to gain ground. So much so that last month the registrations of electric cars (pure and plug-in hybrids), non-plug-in hybrids, hydrogen cars, CNG, LPG and LNG account for almost half (45%).
Sales of vehicles powered by gasoline close October with a 39.8% market share, while 17.5% is for diesel.
