What have been the best-selling electric cars in January 2023? We analyze the market after the first month to identify the best sellers in the segment.
The electric car segment continues to grow as the model offering increases and a strong and stable charging network is implemented. For these reasons, among others, during the first month of 2023, a total of 3,061 registrations of fully electric vehicles have been registered in Spain, or what is the same, an increase of 72.26% compared to January 2022.
This impressive growth has been registered month after month for years as proof that the electric car is a real alternative for more and more buyers. Even so, it continues to have a reduced market share, reaching 4.77% of the total sales registered in January 2023.
The market continues to bet on hybridization as the main alternative to traditional internal combustion engine cars in a month in which 64,147 units sold have been registered, 51.4% more than in the same period of 2022, but 25, 8% less than in January 2020, a record that corresponds to the period prior to the pandemic.
The best-selling electric cars in January 2023
Below we are going to show you which have been the best-selling electric cars in January 2023. The list is headed this first month by the Dacia Spring, which achieved 282 registered units, 49 more than the Tesla Model Y (second with 233 registrations). The podium is completed by the electric Fiat 500 and its 231 units sold.
Further down the list of best-selling electric cars in January 2023 we find the Citroën ë-C4 and the Ford Mustang Mach-E, fourth and fifth respectively, and separated by just 5 units. The MG4 Electric storms into sixth position, ahead of the Volvo XC40 and the Cupra Born.
The surprise of the month has been the 108 registered units of the Volkswagen ID. Buzz, who occupies the ninth position in the ranking. The list of the 10 best-selling electric cars in Spain in January 2023 is completed by the Peugeot e-2008.
It should be noted that the sum of the sales of these ten models represents 53.83% of the 3,061 units registered within this market niche. Here’s the complete list:
