The Italian brand presents the Maserati Grecale Folgore, the 100% electric version of its intermediate SUV, with a range of 500 kilometers.
Maserati wanted to be one of the leading brands at the Shanghai Motor Show and it has succeeded. The firm of the trident has presented in the Chinese appointment the electric version of its intermediate SUV, the Maserati Grecale Folgore.
More than a year ago we met the Maserati Grecale, the SUV located below the Levante and built on Alfa Romeo’s Giorgio platform. We knew its gasoline mechanics, made up of a 300 and 330 CV four-cylinder, both with light hybridization, and a biturbo V6 with 530 CV as the spearhead.
Now comes the turn for the 100% electric variant, which is called Folgore, and which has officially debuted at the Shanghai Motor Show. The arrival of the Italian electric SUV in Europe is scheduled for 2024.

Of the design, little we can say. The changes with respect to the rest of the Grecale range are almost imperceptible, except for the front, where the bumpers are different and more aerodynamic and have simulated air intakes.
The grill is also slightly different. Of course, the trident logo remains unchanged, as does the trio of openings in the front wheel arches, a hallmark of the Italian brand that, in this case, appear bathed in copper and with the inscription ‘Folgore’.
In the side view, the only difference is found in the wheels, with a specific design for this electric version in the form of a turbine and completely faired to optimize aerodynamics. Behind, we only guess that we are facing the electric version of the Grecale due to the absence of exhausts.
Inside the Folgore there are also small changes, such as the information offered by the digital instrument panel, based on a 12.3-inch screen, which shows information about the electrical system and the battery.
In the center console, we find the same 12.3-inch multimedia system screen, along with another 8.8-inch screen just below, for climate management.
500 kilometers of autonomy
We still have to wait to know in detail all the technical information about the Maserati Grecale Folgore. However, we can already offer you some information, such as that it uses a 400 volt architecture.
The propulsion system consists of two electric motors, one on each axis, with a power that exceeds 500 HP and a maximum torque of 800 Nm. It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and exceeding 200 km/h, good records considering its weight of almost 2.5 tons.
The engines are powered by a 105 kWh battery that provides a range of about 500 kilometers, according to the WLTP cycle.
