The president of the Provincial Council of Ourense surprised by a radar at more than 200 km/h with an official car

The official version is that the politician from Orense was traveling to Madrid for a meeting and that he will personally assume the fine

Manuel Baltar, president of the Ourense Provincial Council and the provincial Popular Party (PP), has been surprised by a radar when he was driving at more than 200 km/h in a section limited to 120 km/h. The events were recorded last Sunday on the A-52 highway, near Zamora.

Apparently, Baltar was traveling to Madrid at the wheel of an official car owned by the Ourense Provincial Council. These vehicles are available to the Presidency for trips related to its activity, such as attending different meetings of the organization.

At 215 km/h in a section limited to 120 km/h

The car that the politician from Orense was driving was registered by a radar placed by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) on the A-52 at the height of Zamora at a speed of 215 km/h. The maximum speed allowed in this section is 120 km/h, so the cinemometer sent the images and vehicle data to the Automated Complaints Treatment Center (CTDM) in León.

The penalty for driving at 215 km/h in a section of 120 km/h is 600 euros and entails the loss of 6 driving license points. In addition, when exceeding the maximum speed of the road by more than 80 km/h, it is considered a traffic crime.

Radar

As sources from the Ourense Provincial Council have indicated to the EFE agency, it will be Baltar himself who will assume the payment of the traffic fine. They have not ruled on the possibility that a crowded report has been opened and that he is tried for a crime against road safety.

For exceeding the maximum allowed on highways and highways by more than 80 km/h, Manuel Baltar could face prison terms of three to six months. Assuming that this is the first time he has been charged with a crime of this type, the judge could consider commuting the sentence to work for the benefit of the community.
