Social networks have become an excellent means of communication to keep us informed at all times. They not only serve us to have fun and share our own experiences, since platforms like Twitter focus more on information.

But with everything and with it, other proposals such as Instagram or Facebook are also used for purposes related to news, marketing or entertainment. It all depends on our account and the use we make of it. In addition, here a very important factor, we are talking about social network accounts, is whether we direct them towards professional use, or more personal.

In this specific case we are going to focus on the controversial Twitter, the platform of the little blue bird, which is constantly being updated to improve the user experience. And it is that this is a platform that has received many complaints due to certain inappropriate uses made by some people, if not many. In fact, in this case we want to talk about the possibility of taking screenshots of the tweets published by others and saving them.

This is something that apparently the heads of Twitter do not like in the least. Therefore, the platform is currently testing a way to prevent users from taking screenshots in its mobile application. What’s more, right now we can say that this is a function or limitation that some have been experiencing during the weekend that just ended.

Twitter doesn’t want you to take screenshots

To give you an idea of what we are talking about, Twitter user Jane Machum Wong has published a screenshot of all this. In it you can see how the application gives the possibility of sharing the link or the tweet when trying to take a screenshot. As you can imagine, the proposed alternative allows us to send the content of the social network by mail or share the link with our contacts.

Moreover, an authorized voice of the platform has already confirmed that the blocking of screenshots. He thus states that it is something that is being tested in the company’s application on iOS-based devices. This means that at the moment the mobile application for Android and the desktop one are not affected, yet.

We have recently seen that some instant messaging services like WhatsApp are also testing similar features. All this in order to protect sensitive and private data that users share in certain ways. This, for example, is something that is now beginning to be seen in the aforementioned messaging application with temporary photos and videos.

However, this kind of restriction about blocked screenshots on a social network like Twitter is a bit more strange. For this reason, the social platform allows us to glimpse that this movement occurs so that the publications are accessible to everyone. Basically what is intended is that the alternative links that are proposed when trying to capture can cause that data to be extended to other users. In short, the social network wants to attract more users to continue growing.

And it is not uncommon to post screenshots of tweets on Internet sites of all kinds. Thus, with this restriction, what is wanted is for interested parties to share direct links to the social network instead of taking screenshots in the form of images to share.
