Cloud storage services have not stopped growing in popularity and use over the last few years. Most users subscribe to one or more of these platforms to store their personal files, as is the case with OneDrive or Google Drive, for example.
Next, we want to focus on one of the most popular and used alternatives of this type around the globe. Specifically, we are referring to the storage platform that Microsoft itself offers us and that we can use in conjunction with its Windows operating system. We are talking about OneDrive, a remote storage system that offers us a good number of functions that will make it easier for us to save content on other servers using our personal account and at the same time saving space on the PC.
As an example of all this, we can configure this application to save the backup copies of the operating system directly here. In the same way we can upload and share all kinds of files and folders in a simple and direct way. Once we know all this, it is worth mentioning that OneDrive has been with us for a decade and a half, a period of time in which it has not stopped gaining popularity.
In addition, and how could it be otherwise, the software giant does not stop introducing new functions and improvements in its storage service. Now the 15th anniversary of the platform has just taken place, so Microsoft has announced an interesting feature that you will surely love.
This OneDrive feature makes it easy to use files
To give you a rough idea of what we are discussing here, Microsoft is currently telling us about the new feature it has called OneDrive Home. In this way, the firm introduces some interesting novelties in the cloud service in order to improve our remote use experience. There is no doubt that one of the most notable changes is the aforementioned feature.
The function as such is focused on facilitating the management of our files stored on the company’s servers. At the same time, it also tries to provide us with access to certain collaborative and group work tools. Let’s see what are the most interesting news.
The first thing we should know is that OneDrive organizes our files based on recent activities. This will allow us to filter the types of files and at the same time facilitate their search. By default it shows all, but there are accesses to view Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF files. Now we are also going to find, thanks to OneDrive Home, with a new Quick Access section. It allows us to anchor custom document libraries to speed up access to those saved contents.
It is also worth noting that it now makes it easier for us to view the latest files added or modified by other people. This is achieved because OneDrive Home shows a new column called Activity that shows us the recent changes within the file. This includes edits to this, homework assignments, mentions, replies, comments, and more. With everything and with this we must bear in mind that this function will reach everyone in the future, since it is in full development.
