Up for auction a Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE Performance designed by Roger Federer

When we bring the case of a car to auction, as a general rule it is about classics or examples of very important models in the history of the automotive industry… almost always second-hand. What is not at all usual is that the auction is of a new model and less that someone like Roger Federer has contributed to its design.

The recently retired champion, after a 24-year career behind him, has joined forces with Mercedes to create a unique example based on the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE Performance.

How could it be otherwise, it has been inspired by the world of tennis, something that is evident in the most striking feature of the vehicle, the body color, a neon yellow inspired by the balls and that has been baptized as Electric Beam . The only other difference it has with a standard copy is that it is signed by the tennis player.

There is no need for more claim than the fact of being a unique car in the world, because as far as the mechanical section is concerned, it is already a real beast.

The first plug-in hybrid model developed by Mercedes-AMG uses a system that combines a 639 hp 4.0 V8 biturbo engine with a 204 hp (150 kW) electric block that acts on the rear axle, developing a combined power of 843 hp and a maximum torque of 1,470 Nm.

Thanks to this, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 316 km/h. As a curiosity, it can operate in completely electric mode, although only for 12 kilometers, so in Spain it only has access to the DGT ECO label.

RM Sotheby’s will be in charge of auctioning the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE Performance designed by Roger Federer at its Motorworld München event to be held on November 26. The house estimates that the winning bid will be somewhere between 200,000 and 250,000 euros.

All the money raised will go towards a charity project focused on tennis that takes place in London.
