A whopping 10.6 seconds faster than the current 911 GT3.

This is the 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and this is the record-setting onboard lap at the Nürburgring. This is another success for the brand and for the new sports car, as it managed to complete the 20.8 km of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:49.328 minutes, thus registering a time 10.6 seconds faster than the current 911 GT3. The 992 GT3 RS arrives with force, and with the most radical version of the family to date.

A whopping 10.6 seconds faster than the current 911 GT3. The new Porsche 992 GT3 is fast, but its big brother, the GT3 RS, is quite the beast. Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister, who has been “intensely involved in the development of the new flagship of the 911 series”, was driving the sports car when this record was set. Another dream lap for the German brand.

Of course, the unit that has marked this time had the help of the “Weissach” optional package. This equipment has the exclusive Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires in measurements of 275/35 R 20 at the front and 335/30 R21 at the rear, a configuration with which it is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 296 km/h. Shortly before reaching this speed, at 285 km/h, it generates a downforce of no less than 860 kilograms, which in technical terms is three times more than a 911 GT3. Brutal!

If you are surprised that it does not exceed 300 km/h, we will explain. This drop in top speed is due in part to the RS’s aggressive aero kit. Depending on the brand, it can generate an aerodynamic load of 409 kg at 200 km/h and, as we said, 860 kg at 285 km/h. Considering all this in the Porsche 911 GT3 RS 2023, we can not imagine what the GT2 RS 992 will be like.
