Video: we thoroughly tested the Nissan Ariya

In this video test of the Nissan Ariya we tell you everything we liked and also what we see could be improved in the new 100% electric Japanese SUV.

I already wanted to sink my teeth into this Nissan Ariya that I have tested in this video. Since its launch it was very different to me, very powerful and futuristic looking. And by tasting it for the first time in person I have only confirmed my suspicions.

The Nissan Ariya is an electric SUV that measures 4,595 mm in length, 1,850 in width and 1,660 in height, while the wheelbase is 2,775 mm.

Therefore, it is a little smaller than the Nissan X-Trail, so that you know how to fit it within the brand itself and, due to its almost SUV Coupé design, it faces rivals such as the Skoda Enyaq Coupé or the Kia EV6, for Just give a couple of examples.

This is the Ariya on the outside

It is characterized by its simple but aggressive lines and by its feline look, marked by minimalist headlights. She has a lot of presence with her hood so high and her “grille” so striking.

This unit has 20” wheels with an aerodynamic design and to equip them you have to pay the 2,500 euros that the Sport package costs, which also includes Nappa Blue leather upholstery.

On the side we also have the charging socket and wheel arches framed in black, to match the grill and the roof. And speaking of the roof, as I already told you, it is dropped at the rear, to give it a coupé style.

And the rear also seems formidable to me, with this design made from areas that go in and out, which gives it great dynamism and power. Although the rear window is narrow and that, together with the large C-pillars, does not help you have good visibility to the rear.

and so inside

The driving position is elevated, the environment very modern and conveys a feeling of high quality. It has a 12.3″ digital dashboard, which is attached to the main screen, which is also 12.3″.

In the video I give you very specific information about its interior width, both in the rear and in the front seats, although I can tell you in advance that it is very good in almost all dimensions, except one. Find out in the video…

The trunk of the electric Nissan Ariya has a capacity of 468-1,775 liters. Keep in mind that the all-wheel drive versions are equipped with a second motor on the rear axle and, therefore, the capacity is reduced to 415 liters.

What mechanics does the Nissan Ariya equip?

There are 5 versions of the Ariya 2021 if we differentiate them according to their power: the access version mounts a 160 kW motor, which is 218 hp and has a 63 kWh capacity battery. Then there is this one that I am testing here, whose motor has 178 kW, that is to say, 242 CV and a battery with a capacity of 87 kWh. Both with front wheel drive.

And so we move on to variants with four-wheel drive, a system that Nissan calls e-4ORCE, making a pun on the English pronunciation of the number 4.

The all-wheel drive version with a 63 kW battery adds a second propeller on the rear axle and offers a combined power of 205 kW, which is 279 hp. By the way, it’s not for sale yet. The Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE with an 87 kWh battery boosts power to 225 kW (306 hp). And finally there’s the Performance version of the latter, delivering 290 kW (394 PS)

As for its dynamic behavior, although in its day we already tested the Nissan Ariya, I also tell you in this video what the Japanese electric car seemed to me when you get behind the wheel.

As I always do in my video tests, and this one on the Nissan Ariya has not been an exception, I do an acceleration test from a standstill to see how it pushes in situ. Do you want to know what I thought? I could tell you in words, but nothing better than discovering it in the video.

Yes, I can tell you that it has three driving modes: Eco, normal and Sport. And that it has not managed to match the official acceleration figure from 0 to 100 km/h. And neither, unfortunately, the consumption, which has risen well above the official average cost (WLTP): 18.4 kWh/100 km, according to which the autonomy is 525 km.

Regarding charging times, the first thing to keep in mind is that the Ariya comes with an integrated 7.4 kW charger and you can optionally mount a 22 kW charger for 1,000 euros and thus reduce charging times.

In the case of this version with a 87 kWh battery, it takes 13.5 hours to charge from 10 to 100%, with 7.4 kW, and that time is reduced by half (5 hours) if the 22-inch charger is mounted. kW.

CONCLUSION and prices Nissan Ariya

I can tell you in advance that I liked the Nissan Ariya, although it has two drawbacks, consumption and price, because this version costs 57,900 euros.
