Since the beginning of 2020, it has become essential for many companies to adapt to the remote work modality. In this context, it is not surprising that Google has decided to produce a task management application. If you want to know more about what Google Tables is and how it works, keep reading.

What is Google Tables?

Recently, Google’s project incubator, known as Area 120, announced that they had launched Google Tables, a tool for managing projects and tasks. Its objective is to make project monitoring more efficient by automating some processes.

This application allows you to manage the different tasks of a project without the need to manually review different documents or transfer files from one account to another in Google Drive, thus saving you time and effort that you can invest in other aspects of your project.

As you might expect, Google Tables is designed to be compatible with other Google apps (such as Google Sheets, Google Drive, and Google Calendar). Therefore, if you already use these in your project, it will be very useful and easy to synchronize them with this manager. It is also compatible with third-party apps, such as Zapier.

In addition, its aesthetic appearance is in line with the style of Google. It uses the colors red, blue, yellow and green to differentiate different parts of the project, and everything is on a white background. This makes it look familiar and makes it very easy to differentiate between all the parts of the project you are managing.

All these features make Google Tables in direct competition with other applications to be more productive in remote work, such as Trello and Notion. However, it is currently (October 2020) only available in the US as a beta version.

How does Google Tables work?

Google Tables allows the user to create a virtual whiteboard in which he can organize, in the most convenient way, all the tasks associated with the project he is carrying out. And, once created, it allows you to customize each task with your data.

Some of the data that can be associated with a task are the team member responsible for carrying it out, a brief description of the task, and its status (whether it is pending, in process, or completed). You can even add attachments, such as photos or documents, if necessary.

But the reason why Google Tables is revolutionary is that it detects the progress made in the project without the user having to modify it manually. It does this by collecting data from different sources, collating it, and pasting it into another document as a viewable summary.

In addition, this application allows you to schedule the sending of emails with reminders when a task is close to reaching the due date; as well as send messages to a chat room if an urgent problem arises, and reassign tasks according to the availability of project members.

Is Google Tables completely free?

Access to this tool will be free for all users who have a Google account. However, there is also a version or modality in which, by paying a monthly fee, you will have access to more options and benefits. In this section we leave you a summary of the characteristics of each one.

The free version allows you to have a maximum of 100 tables and 1,000 rows. Also, you can have up to 1 GB occupied with attachments and perform a total of 50 bot actions (which are the automatic actions to update and reassign tasks).

For its part, the paid version allows you to have ten times more of the same benefits: 1,000 tables, 10,000 rows, 10 GB of attachments and 500 bot actions. It also includes advanced sharing and history features.

These upgrades cost $10 per month per user. If you are interested in learning more about how you can purchase the paid version and what its specific benefits are, we recommend that you review the Google Tables Help Center.

We hope that this summary has helped you to understand a little more about what Google Tables is and how it works, Google’s new application to manage tasks and projects easily.
