Where should I take each DGT label so that I don’t get fined?

Each one has a very specific place.

The DGT labels have been on everyone’s lips since 2023 began because, with the implementation of the new ZBE, more drivers are affected by the restrictions and want to wear their environmental emblem. However, this is not the only sticker that you must have in the car, do you know where each one should go so that you do not get fined?

The first thing to keep in mind is that nothing should go on the windshield that interferes with the driver’s vision. With this clarified, each of the stickers that your car has to have must go in a specific place in it.

Where to stick the environmental label of the DGT

It does not matter if it is label B, label C, ECO label or ZERO label: a priori, its placement is not mandatory. The DGT has not established any obligation in this regard, although it is useful to wear it so that the agents can see at a quick glance what category the car is in.

In fact, they are not even necessary for access to LEZs, since the cameras that are in charge of the control are based on reading license plates.

Currently it is each city council that decides whether or not to fine for not carrying the environmental label in plain sight. At the moment, only Gijón penalizes drivers with 90 euros, since in Madrid a fine of 15 euros was stipulated that does not apply.

Now, although there are no general regulations on whether to put it or not, what there are are very clear rules on where to place them: they must always go in the lower right part of the windshield, in front of the passenger. If you don’t go there, they can fine you 200 euros.

In the case of motorcycles, the regulations are more lax and it is necessary to place it in any place where it is visible.

Where to stick the ITV sticker

The rule is also very clear regarding the ITV sticker: this must be placed in the upper right corner of the windshield, again in front of the co-driver. In cars that do not have a windshield and motorcycles, it is enough to put it in a place that is visible.

Of course, unlike the environmental labels of the DGT, the one of the ITV is mandatory to carry it and not having it attached is sanctioned with 80 euros.
