With the arrival of DAZN to the television distribution of the LaLiga rights and the subsequent agreement with Movistar and Orange, the original plan of the streaming platform was that, to compensate for the inclusion of a DAZN LaLiga channel on the Movistar Plus+ and Orange dials TV, it would be your application that would be used to watch the games on mobile devices.

However, due to the connection problems that occurred from the first day and the inability of the platform to solve them so that customers could watch the matches with the appropriate quality, a Solomonic decision was reached: that the DAZN LaLiga channels should also were seen through the Movistar Plus+ and Orange TV applications. However, this decision that did not really benefit the operators or the OTT itself will be reverted to its original plan next week.

DAZN disappears from the Orange and Movistar apps

Having the DAZN LaLiga channel as part of Movistar Plus+ and Orange TV’s own applications during these months practically from the initial day has served to calm the waters and avoid the anger of irate customers, but it has not been free for Movistar or Orange. Accessing the matches through their network, their platforms or their CDNs (content distribution networks) in the end supposes an additional cost that the operators have assumed unless there has been some compensation that has not been made public.

This temporary measure, which in the end has ended up extending for almost the entire first round, has generated an extra cost for both operators in exchange for being able to offer the “all football” promised with the minimum number of incidents. The attitude of Movistar and Orange from the beginning has been conciliatory, trying to solve the costs before there were incidents that could affect them again, but always remembering that “it is DAZN’s obligation to ensure that it offers its customers a service end-to-end without incident, as is the case with other OTT platforms such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video”.

For DAZN it has not been the ideal situation either. In addition to failing their first major litmus test in Spain in an agreement that will take place in the residential market for at least 5 seasons, they have also lost another great asset in all these days: customer data.

Finally, on January 16, 2023, the original plan will return and DAZN will only be seen in its own app on mobile devices. Therefore, January 15, 2023 will be the last day to access the DAZN channels through the Movistar Plus+ and Orange TV apps. In case changes, both in Movistar and Orange (also Jazztel), we will be available with the registration in DAZN.

Activate DAZN keys

In the event that you are a Movistar Plus+ customer, you have two ways to activate your DAZN account in Movistar. Through the DAZN app on the UHD deco, it will only be necessary to enter the email you want to use to create the DAZN account and directly access the service. Next, an email will be sent to the account you have indicated, which will allow you to change the password to be able to access the DAZN application on the rest of the compatible devices.

Instead, if you prefer, you can go to the DAZN 1-4 linear channels (or the settings section of the deco configuration menu) and scan the QR that you will see there or access the corresponding websitewhere you must enter your Mi Movistar app passwords, and once identified, enter the email and password you wish to use for DAZN.

Activate DAZN

As for Orange TV, you can do it easily via WhatsApp by writing to 653850085. You will see a message already filled in, “Activate DAZN”, send that message to start a conversation and the wizard will generate a fully customized activation page for you. Enter that page and activate your account by entering the username (email) and password that you want to use to watch football matches from the DAZN app and that’s it.
