Activity trends in Condition app
You can view a weekly overview on the Apple Watch if you want insight into your daily movement. With Activity Trends (or: Activity Trends or Activity Trends) you will see a much more extensive overview of the past period. What data does the function keep and where can I find it? How should you interpret this? We explain that here.
- Here’s how to find Activity Trends
- Trends in the Condition app
The trends also determine which personal challenge you receive each month. If you reach your goals easily, your challenge will become a little more difficult. If not, the Apple Watch gives you a challenge that’s a bit easier.
This is how you find Trends in the Condition app
The Trends (also called Activity Trends) are available to anyone who uses an Apple Watch. The Apple Watch must have collected sufficient data to be able to show the trends. The function has been available since watchOS 6 and iOS 13, so older models can also use it.
To see your trends, do the following:
- Open the Fitness app on the iPhone paired with your Apple Watch.
- In the Overview tab you will see a Trends heading halfway down the page. Tap Show more to see everything.
You will see an overview of different types of activities. In total, the Trends feature tracks eight activities:
- To move
- Train
- To stand
- Distance
- Minutes in which stood
- Walking pace
- Running pace
- Cardio fitness
At the top of the screen it is shown what you are already doing well, under the heading Keep up the good work. Activities that you still need to work on are listed under the heading Go for it or Worth a look. You can also see how you are doing by looking at the direction of the arrow. If the arrow points up, you are doing it right. Down means there is work to be done. Some data requires even more data to show a trend.
This is how Activity Trends work
Just because you hit your target every day doesn’t necessarily mean you’re on a positive trend. This concerns relative data from the past year. This function compares the data per component of the past three months with that of the nine months before. In total, data from an entire year is analyzed. If you have exercised more in the past 3 months than in the previous 9 months, then this is a positive trend.
Are there things you can work on? Then you can see in the Trends overview how to approach this per activity. It also tells you how many weeks it will take if you work to turn the tide. Your iPhone tries to encourage you to keep moving and challenge yourself.
Would you like to gain more insight into a specific activity? Then tap on the activity and you will first see a schematic representation of your activity. The colored bars show the past 3 months. The gray stripes show the 9 months before. With the horizontal dotted line you can easily see what your average is in these two periods.
Secondly, you will also see an overview of your averages per day. This way you find out on which days you are less active, so that you can perhaps work on that. Finally, at the bottom you can see how often you have achieved your goals in the past year.
Sometimes there is no trend available. In most cases this is because there is not enough data available. For example, if you have not walked enough in the past ninety days compared to the past 365 days. Therefore, continue to wear your Apple Watch and exercise enough to fill the trends.
With this feature, Apple wants to help Apple Watch users who find it difficult to increase their exercise. Through trends, the Activity app provides further motivation to persevere. You will not receive medals or other rewards for improving your trends.
