Office automation is an increasingly widespread and important software sector for most users. There are different file formats that we can use here, such as the native Google Docs or the Word DOCX.
To all this, which we mentioned, we can add the usual PDF or XLSX that we create in the spreadsheet application, Excel. But in these lines we want to focus on the aforementioned text documents. Specifically, we are going to show you a simple trick that you may not have known about and that will allow you to convert any DOCX that you have created in Microsoft Word to a document compatible with the Google program.
And the search giant also offers us an office suite, in this case free, that never stops growing and improving, Docs. It is true that the proposal that Microsoft offers us and which is part of the popular Office, is perhaps the most widespread and used in the world. However, we must take into consideration that this is a proposal for which we have to pay, unlike what happens with Google’s. Hence, little by little Docs is growing substantially. This is something that can be extended being in the personal as well as the professional market.
Hence, many who currently have text documents created in Word want to convert them into files compatible with Google’s proposal. More and more people are opting for free online services even for their office documents, as is the case we are dealing with now. Largely due to the collaboration features of Google Docs, it’s easy to understand why it has become so popular.
This is how you convert a Word document to use it in Google Docs
At this point it is important to know that, if you have multiple documents created in Word, being able to use them in Google Docs is very easy. In fact, once we know the process we can practically consider it almost automatic. Thanks to the trick that we are going to talk to you about now, we will say that the method is much simpler than we could imagine at first.
For this we are going to use the cloud storage service owned by the search giant, we refer to Google Drive. To begin with and once we have accessed this platform, in the upper left corner we find a button that says New. Once we click on it, we select the Upload file option.
At this moment, an explorer window will open on the screen from where we have the opportunity to select the DOCX file that we want to convert. In this way, what we are doing is uploading that Word file to our own storage service. We also have the possibility of dragging the file from a Windows Explorer window here.
Now we only have to double-click on the new file that we have uploaded from Word so that Google Drive will automatically convert it and make it an editable file in Docs. Obviously we can repeat this as many times as we need.
