Memoji on the Apple Watch

Since watchOS 7, you can create and edit Memoji on your Apple Watch. This was mainly added so that children can make their own Memoji. With the newly added Family Configuration function, parents can manage an Apple Watch for the child, without having their own iPhone. It’s a fun activity to make these pictures and then share them with friends. It actually works just as easily on the Apple Watch as on the iPhone.

View and edit Memoji on the Apple Watch

You can view your existing Memoji in the new Memoji app on the Apple Watch and adjust it if necessary. To do this, go to the app, where you will immediately see any previously created Memoji. Tap it to edit. If you want to create a variation on an existing Memoji, for example a variant with a face mask, tap Duplicate so you don’t have to start all over again.

Create Apple Watch Memoji

This is how you create a new Memoji on the Apple Watch:

1. Open the Memoji app on your Apple Watch.
2. Swipe to the top of the list.
3. Tap the plus sign (+).
4. Start creating the new Memoji.
5. Add skin color, hair, accessories and more.
6. Tap Done when you’re done.

Just like on the iPhone, you can customize eyes, head shape, tongue piercing, face covering and more. When you’re done, the Memoji can also be seen and used on your other Apple devices.

How to use Memoji stickers

You can use the Memoji as stickers in your chat conversations, also directly on the Apple Watch. To do this, open a conversation in the Messages app and tap the Memoji icon. Then choose one of the facial expressions. As soon as you tap this, it is immediately sent to the recipient.

Set Memoji as your watch face

Since watchOS 7 you can also use Memoji as a watch face. The figure moves along and you get a close-up when you tap it.

You can create a Memoji watch face in two ways: in the usual way, by briefly placing your finger on the current watch face. Then scroll right to tap the plus sign (+) and choose the Memoji watch face.

It can also be done faster:

1. Open the Memoji app on your Apple Watch.
2. Tap the Memoji you want and scroll down.
3. Choose Create Watch Face.

You can now customize this watch face a little further, for example by changing the glowing color around the head. Furthermore, you have two complications at your disposal, above and below the Memoji. For example, you can enter the date or a shortcut to your favorite app here.
