Push notifications keep you informed when something happens in your favorite app. But sometimes they can also be a bit too pushy. It is not necessary to turn off notifications completely, because you can also just turn off the sounds. You can also choose to disable push notification sounds so that they appear silently in the notification center.

Disable push notification sounds via settings
In just a few steps, you can turn off notification sounds per app through your iPhone and iPad settings. This works as follows:
- Go to the Settings app.
- Tap Notifications and choose the app for which you want to adjust the notifications.
- Turn off the Sounds switch.
The app still sends push messages, but does not play a sound. This also applies if your iPhone or iPad is not on silent. Apps for which you want to receive notifications with sound, simply play them. If you want to turn off the sound of all apps at once, use the switch on the side to silence your iPhone. On the iPad you do this via the Control Panel.
Temporarily disable push notification sounds via the lock screen
You can also quickly turn off the sounds of an app’s notifications from the lock screen for 1 hour or for the rest of the day. This works as follows:
- Swipe a notification slightly to the left.
- Now tap Options.
- Choose Keep quiet for 1 hour or Keep quiet today. Notifications are then temporarily delivered silently.
If you want to adjust the notification settings of an app, you can also choose Show settings in step 3.
Do you only want no push notification sounds at night? Then choose the Focus mode on the iPhone. You can read more about this in our tip.
