One of the most popular programs in the Microsoft office suite is Excel, an application that focuses on the processing of numerical data. It is used by both users at home and large companies to control their accounting.

The functions offered by this software solution included in Office are almost infinite. The truth is that mastering Excel in its entirety is quite complicated. And that offers us some very simple tools that allow us to carry out simple calculations. But at the same time, we also have the possibility of defining extremely complex formulas to use in our spreadsheets.

On many occasions, as many of you have been able to see for years, here we work with an enormous amount of data. This means that we have large sheets and books to work with. And that is not the worst, since sometimes we have to deal with documents in this program that are not our own, but rather those of third parties. That is where the problems and failures that the application itself can present begin.

We can encounter all kinds of errors that do not allow us to finish certain tasks in Excel. This is precisely one of the great handicaps that many users face on a daily basis. Let’s assume that one of the most common problems in this regard is the error called Data Inconsistency. Perhaps one of the biggest drawbacks of this failure is that it can refer to multiple elements that are part of the sheet.

AI will solve data inconsistencies in Excel

This is a bug that we can encounter at any time and that can refer to problems with numerical formats, text inconsistencies, additional spaces in cells, and more. Since it does not focus on a specific error, as happens with other messages of this type that may appear, its detection and solution sometimes drives us completely crazy.

And that is precisely where the artificial intelligence that Microsoft is now integrating with its Copilot comes into play. This is a novelty that the software giant has just announced to the joy of many Excel regulars. At this point, it is interesting to know that from now on, with the push of a button, Copilot’s AI will carry out an analysis on its own and delete or correct the cell information.

This means that in most cases the data inconsistency error in Excel will be solved immediately. As you can imagine, this will save us a good amount of time and effort on our projects here. The company has called this new function Clean Data. It uses AI in order to identify the content of the cells automatically. It will then alert us to possible inconsistencies in the data and even fix them.

Once this is done, we will have the possibility to delete or replace the erroneous data with a single mouse click so that the intelligent function can do its part.
