HouseParty is making a splash these days. Although it was created four years ago, there are many people who knew about it very recently. Today we are going to show you how the HouseParty app works.
It was originally designed for the adolescent public, to make video calls casually, leaving aside the professional and work.
You may be wondering why, and the answer is very simple. It is the only app at the moment that also has online games that you can enjoy with your friends.
You can video chat with up to eight people. Rooms are created, in which people on your friends list and friends of friends who are connected can join the video call, as long as the rooms have not been set to private.
How to sign up for HouseParty
To get started, sign in to the app. From your computer or from your mobile device the methodology will be the same. Click on “Sing Up”. Enter an email account that you use and that you have access to, as you will need it to validate your account.
In the boxes below you will need to type your first name and add an alias or username. Remember that your alias must be easily recognizable by your friends so that they can easily find you.
You must enter other data, such as:
- Date of birth, if you want to protect your data it is not necessary that it be an accurate date.
- Password, we always recommend that your passwords are not guessable and that you combine uppercase letters, lowercase letters, symbols and numbers to make it more secure.
- Telephone number, although this is optional, it will help you find your friends who are users of this platform.
- You can sign in with Facebook, Snapchat, or Google to sync your contacts.
Now that you have created an account, the next thing to do is add friends. To do this, in a new window, the app will show you those who are close to you and who are users of this platform.
You can add more friends at any time, just pull up the options menu at the bottom of the screen and press “Add”. You can search for them by username.
How HouseParty is used or works
As we have repeatedly mentioned, HouseParty was designed exclusively for video calls and group games. For this reason, in order to use it, we must give the app permissions so that it can access the other functions of our device, such as the microphone and the camera.
To do this, go to your device settings and find “Application Management” scroll down until you find HouseParty. Access it and in the permissions section, activate access to the camera and microphone.
To receive alerts when a person connects to HouseParty, turn on notifications as well.
Now return to the application to continue using it. You can access her options menu by swiping up. To make video calls press on the camera icon on the right and for messages on the paper plane icon on your left.
You can make a video call to the people on the list, since they will be the ones who are connected. Choose one of them and press “Join”. Anyone who is connected can join the video call. If you want to create a private room or conversation, click on “Lock room”.
Another thing that you can do with this app that makes it stand out from the rest is that you can play group games online. At the moment it has four games available:
- Chips and Guac is a word association card game.
- Quick Draw you must make a drawing and the others must guess what it is about, the one who does it first wins.
- Trivia, is a game of questions and answers by time.
- Heads Up, is the game of “who is who”. One person will have a card on their forehead and the others will give them clues to guess what it is.
As you can see, it’s very easy to use HouseParty for group video calls and online games.
